IDX Pro and coils

Lucky me. After letting myself get all fired up reading Monte's posts about the Whites Classic series, I snagged an IDX Pro with Mr. Bill's mods installed on the Classifieds. While I'm waiting for it to arrive -

I have an Eclipse 5.3 which is V rated. Will this work?

Also, does anyone have experience with the Bigfoot coil (the XLT one) on the classic series ?

Thanks

Rick K

Howdy Rick,

The 5.3 Eclipse will not work, this coil is for the DFX,V3i,MXT,etc. The one to look for is the Bluemax 600, 5.3 BlackMax, or the latest one 5.3 BullsEye which are for the 6.59 Khz models like the XLT, Classic ID, IDX Pro, 6000 Pro XL, 5900 Di Pro SL.The stock 950 Pro coil is the deepest coil and a good one to start with if the hunting area is not too trashy. I like to set the ground balance slightly positive, which is what it takes to make the target ID spot on. Forget the presets on all controls except Freq adj, set disc. level to about 9:00 position, black sand switch normal and sensitivity to max.....unless it starts to chatter, then back off some. It is a simple set and go detector after these adjustmants are made and rarely have to reset my ground balance for the coil in use. Good luck with your new IDX Pro, mine has been a blast to use.

The XLT BigFoot will work well on the IDX Pro for large open areas. The front half of the coil will work the same as on the XLT but the rear half will give a double beep. No problem because when you go to pinpoint the target, you use the front half anyways. I use a BigFoot on a modified IDX Pro on the dry sand at the beach with the Black sand switch flipped over to Black sand and the disc set just to eliminate nails. This will get you maximum depth with the Sensitivity set to max.
