Monte states that the blue max 950 is the stock coil for this machine. Why is it that when one comes up for sale 9 out of 10 times it has the black max.

The blue max 950 is the earlier name and the black max 950 is the more current name for the same search coil with different stencils.

6.59 kHz models such as the 5900 &n 6000 Di Pro SL, Eagle II, then the Eagle Spectrum, XLT, XL Pro, the Classic III Plus, the Classic III SL, Classic ID, Classic IDX Pro and IDX Pro, Quantum XT and Quantum II and the QXT Pro, the 6000 Pro XL and renamed XL Pro, and I know I probably missed a couple. Originally, the 950 coil that was standard was called the Blue Max 950, there was also a Blue Max 800 and the Blue Max 600 and Blue Max 350.

Then they changed colors and decals on these models to appeal to certain model changes. The white plastic housing Blue Max 600 (a 6

I have an IDX Pro with a black coil and I thought that sucker looked kind of thin. The black finish does look nice. I didn't fully realize there was a later thicker version of the 950. I had mine out today with a bigfoot coil on some soccer fields that had a tournament over the weekend. What a blast using that combination. I am always surprised how deep the bigfoot detects (nickel around 4-5 inches today). But it is fun just swinging that thing away looking for stuff on surface. No rings today but some tokens and a bunch of change.
