IDX PRO all metal question

Hombre

New member
Howdy Y'all........

I have been running with White's machines for 14 years, XLT, DFX, 6000 XL PRO etc. Now I'm down to two machines, the XL PRO and the IDX PRO. This question is about the IDX PRO. I bought this machine in Nov. of last year and really like it, this has the MR. BILL's mods. The all metal mode is'nt like anything I have experienced with my other White's machines. It seems like the signal in all metal fades out when holding the the coil over the target. It seems like it is a fast autotune or something. Anybody have any thoughts about the all metal mode on the IDX PRO? HH...........Hombre

[size=medium]This applies to the IDX/IDX Pro, Classic ID, Classic III SL & Classic III Plus, and the Classic II SL models:

The All Metal mode incorporates an auto-tune circuitry, just as you suspected. It is NOT a fast auto-tune speed, like the XL Pro and some other models, but more of what I feel is a comfortable or functional auto-tune speed. Once a target is located, usually with a Discriminate mode search, you can quickly get a pretty good idea where it is, then toggle to the Pinpoint/All Metal mode to "fine-tune" that pinpoint. It doesn't take long and I very, very seldom have my coil over a target long enough for the auto-retune to take effect.

Nothing wrong with the detector's operation, and I congratulate you, and envy you, for having BOTH an IDX Pro and XL Pro. The two compliment each other exceptionally well!

Howdy Monte.........

Thanks for your quick reply to my question, I recon you would know more about the IDX PRO than just about anybody. I bought the machine based on your opinion of the IDX PRO. It is a great little outfit. I also run a couple of Tesoros. HH..........Hombre

how do you like the tesoros?..:crackerjack" little coin snipers!..love jewelry too!

I had just responded to your Silver uMax thread on the Tesoro forum this morning and now you're flopping forums on me.I don't post very much, but yeah I like the "T" brand quite well. I cut my teeth on the White's brand and still have a couple of them. You can't go wrong with either one! HH..........Hombre

the funny thing is i bought the silver for my daughter, obviously thinking my xl-pro WAS superior in every way!..well i got my a** surprised when one day at a local school i got a "funny" hit on the pro in that the meter and audio sounded good from "certain" sweep angles, and NOT good, (meter bouncing all over the meter face!)
from "different" sweep angles!..well i had the little silver with me to compare signals, and to possibly use as a back-up..i swept the silver at all angles and i got a "clean" sweet hits all the time!..turned out the signal was a "merc" at a tilted angle in the ground!..the point is, the pro gave me a lot of mis information that told me that the signal was junk, and from different sweep angles the audio was breaking up,and NOT clean!..i also determined later that there was iron in the hole, hence the busted signal from the pro!..what amazed me was the "silver" SAW the dime clean,EVEN THOUGH the coin WAS tilted and iron was also present!..all i can say is (w.t.f!)..what a great disc circuit on that silver!..underrated,and outrageous little coin sniper!....remember!..my point is the silver SAW the coin clean!..it was tilted at almost a 40 degree angle,AND iron was present IN the hole!..the silver ignored the iron,AND the fact the coin was tilted!...out rageous performance from a "kid"s toy!..also keep in mind the pro retails for $700.00..

Looks can be deceiving, it looks like a toy,but more like a wolf in sheep's clothing! I do not have a Silver, but have a couple of Bandidos. The performace between them is probably similar. On a positive note on the White's machines, I have been comparing a white's IDX PRO with the Mr. Bills mods, to my Tesoros. The IDX is one quick sob, it rivals the "T" brand in every way, and with a better "meter" than my ole trusty Toltec ll. HH............Hombre

hi hombre!
yeah!..whitey makes some great detectors, and the xl pro i had was one of the best, however it IS a 4-pole,or 4 filter circuit design, and even though the 5.3 helps the performance in trash,it has a much longer "ring time" which will create "masking" in trashy locations!..the new digital processors are much faster coupled with 2 -pole technology which makes them much qiucker in trash!..the tesoros are also 2-pole circuits, and are extremely quick too!..the silver in particular appears to be a very quiet circuit that allows very accurate discrimination in junky areas!

Howdy JT

I agree withya on on the XL PRO. But I was talking about the IDX PRO, entirely different animal. The IDX PRO is a 2 pole filter detector that has a quick recovery speed similar in performance to the Tesoros in the trash. Not trying to argue, later bud..........Hombre

hi hombre!
yes you are correct!..i mentioned the xl-pro because THAT is the detector i owned!..my fault!.. as i did NOT clarify that..yes!..the idx is two-pole,and as such is extremely quick in the junk as well!..monte raves about it,so you KNOW it's gotta be good!...don't worry!..it's ALL good when we can help each other!

regards!

Hi everyone!
I have used the Whites IDX Pro exclusively now for about 4 years. I have found a lot of modern change with it. Also, just a few mercury dimes, and two silver roosevelts. I have also found about a dozen silver rings. No rings this year yet. No gold ever. Any advice for me?
Thank you very kindly,
Kevin in Wisconsin
