I found this item in conjunction with a dropped .69 three ringer and several dropped .58s in what we believe is an 1862 site. Also, the immediate area where it was found has seen habitation back to the mid 1700's.

It's made of pewter, and appears to be complete.

Just a Guess a Bracelet...Petty neat find thou.

Sure don't think it is a bracelet, pretty small for that but possibly part of a door knocker? A strap ring for a rifle? Just guessing obviously :smoke:

I'm guessing too,but it seems that it would be uncomfortable as a bracelet. Alot of people used pewter dishes back then maybe its a napkin ring?

I don't know what it is but it almost looks like part of a whatzit I found last summer.

The beads on mine fall off at the slightest touch, that might be due to age/corrosion but I doubt they would have taken much abuse like daily handling whether worn or pulled. Mine also has a twist in the stem apparently from use.

Whatever it is yours looks like a part of mine.

Lamp Finial??

Lamp finial is as good a guess as any. I think you have the answer there!

It is way to soft a metal for daily use but easy to cast into that shape, I suppose it might have been painted to make it look better. The beads fall off mine if they are touched.
