Hey All. I got out Sat.for about 2 hours before dark put an end to the fun! I detected at an old strip mine field on the East side of town that the kids used to use as a ball field from the 20"s through the 50's. I've been finding less and less, but never give up, because I always am surprised with something new and cool from time to time! Such was the case on this particular hunt! It's 1 3/8" tall by 1 1/4" wide. It appears to have been nickel plated and has a plain back with no writing or inscription. I believe it to be a watch fob or some type of medallion from the first world war period! If anyone has seen something similar or has any information concerning this item I'd truly appreciate the info!

Thanks for everything!

It looks more like a watch fob, Why do you think WW1 just curious.

I was thinking Pre-WWI to WWI due to the image of the plane. If you really examine the image of the plane it has a gridded mast between the wings and you'll see the suggestion of wires running from it to the end of the wings. The plane also has fixed landing gear that is set up in the style of the earliest fighting aircraft. The pilot seems to have a mounted machine gun as well denoting a warplane. This rudimentary type of aircraft would not have been something used during the WWII era. These aircraft were used during the earliest part of WWI, but only on a limited scale as most nations by the begining of WWI had switched to a Bi-wing design for it's advantages over that of the single wing design.

Thus it seems to me with the addition of the zeppelin that it must be from the time period leading up to, with the possability of including, WWI, but not after or from the WWII era. This may also be something that was taken and brought back as a war trophy by one of the veterans of WWI and never produced here in the US at all. This is only my educated guess and a short summary of some of my deductive reasoning and thoughts behind it!
