ID update speed on ES ?

Is it normal for the ID to take 10 seconds or more to update to a new visual reading ? There are times while detecting that I will have taken a few steps using about a 3 second swing and although I hear the different targets, the cursor never moves. Just to be clear, it happens in both smart and digital and the targets sound from deep to high in all metal.
These are my present settings:
These are my settings:
gain-6
variability-10
limits-9
response-normal
sounds-ferrous
Recover-deep off : fast on
All metal. Yes, I do periodically noise cancel, although it isn't that noisy even with the sensitivity around 27.

Thanks for any help.

OK, remember on the explorer, it requires a return to threshold to ID last target seen.. so if your in trash or have alot disced out its slower... What I do in those cases is wiggle the coil over the target I am trying to get a good reading on and lift the coil about 6 inches right off the target.. make sure you dont continue sweeping over the ground or it might ID something disced out (it will id things even if they are not audible) or the edge of the coil false or reading the target with the edge of the coil...

so wiggle the coil an inch or so to the left and right of the target and lift the coil up off the center of the target.. try and be smoot as not to get another reading form the same target while moving it also.. its easy when you get it down

Thanks. I learned today that if I simply stopped for a couple of seconds after hearing an interesting sound, it would update. A lot of stop & go like this but at least I got beyond it and did dig a few clad coins today.
