At first I thought it was a ram rod attachment, but those that I have seen have an external thread.

What is the diameter of the largest dimension?
DJH

Largest dimenesion is 3/4" and it has internal threds on the small shaft, But it spins inside, and its made of copper, Thanks Diggin, Mickfin

The thing is Neal i didnt find it in the water, It was 8" in the Dirt, Thanks

Mickfin,
I'm a Locksmith, and I believe what you have there is a type of locking nut. gas and cable companies use similar type devices. a "key" or tool enters the hole at the bottom and "locks" the inside threaded insert to the outer "knob" so it can be put on or taken off of whatever they don't want tampered with. Then when they remove that key, it releases the outer Knob from the inner threads, so nobody can unscrew it without that tool, it would just spin freely.
Jim.

Thanks Jim 4R your reply, Yes it hase a small hole in the center, And the Center pice spins, And yes the center spool has inner threds, I dont understand how it works??
But yes the spool locks in one position, Thanks again Jim, What time zone would it be in???? Mickfin
