ID number in All-metal mode.....

OK...hope I can make this question make sense...been out in the yard this evening working in the all-metal mode. Is it common, over and iron target, for the ID to jump around or spike, but always seems to jump between say 60 or 70 and then always back to maybe 8 or 10? But go with it always seems to come back to? And a non-ferous target would come back to something over 15? Not sure if that made any sense, but heck, at least I know what I'm talking about!!! hehe.

OH yeah, also learned the cell phone makes it go nuts...had it fairly quiet with the exception of the threshold, and it got noisy...so, I was adjusting and adjusting and just couldn't quiet it down...then my son walks up and says your phone's ringing (I had headphones on and never heard it).

Yes, that should be normal. Iron will give you a "smear" or possibly be unable to "lock-in" and give you a repeatable ID. But be careful, this could make you not dig some questionable signals that are good targets. Rely on the audio as your primary and the visual as a secondary for target identification. If you have either / or then its worth checking out. This is where using 2+ tones comes in. Iron will give you a low tone in the "iron" VDI range above what you have discriminated out. You won't hear the what's below your disc setting. If you do it will just be a "pop" or "click.

So the 2 tone (or whatever multi I have it set at) works in all metal? Hummmm. That's nice.

Sorry for the confusion. In the all metal mode you are basically running in VCO (at least thats the way it is with the T2). I was refering to both modes in my post. Disc mode with low disc and 2+ tones is what I was refering to.

...I guess I'm going to have to wear my glasses from now on while diggin'.
