I'm looking for info on this South Carolina (?)buckle, and what the value of it would be. I've come across similar buckles, but not the same. Rumor has it that it was found in 1936 in the Manassas area. Thanks for any help <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

If I were a betting man, I'd have to say it was post war. It does not conform with CW era buckle construction. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

It is definitely not Civil War period. Further, it has the same keeper style seen on many other late 19th century military buckles.
