ID help needed! Found at my Secret Spot

Gila Marc

New member
I went after work for about an hour until sundown to my Secret Spot (actually the old dumpsite). I'm trying to get used to the Quattro. I didn't find any coins in that short time, but did find several copper "whazzits" and this little lapel pin. It gold-plated copper, I believe. It's length is about like the width of a penny. I've never seen one like it.

Anyone have any ideas what it is?

Found it!! It's a "Flaming Sacred Heart of Jesus". No idea how old.

Gila, that's an incredible find!!! I love the looks of it. Don't know a thing about what it is, but it really looks like a "keeper" to me.

I love the relic. The white bit around the heart, is it enamelled? Is the red enamelled also? It's very pretty and I've never heard of a relic like it. It's a great felling finding old relics, isn't it? I think so. You might think I'm mad, but I get more of a kick finding relics and coins than gold. Yep, gold is great and all, but to hold a piece of man's history in your hands, to think someone in a century or two prior used what we now find, tells a dozen stories. Just from the relics I've pulled from one particular site, I can build a really good picture of who lived there, and what they liked in sports, or clubs, and how they lived. Just gives me a real buzz! Maybe I'm just a romantic!:):detecting:

Well, I suppose I must be a romantic, too! I like relics better than anything. I would rather find something of absolutely no monetary value but with lots of history than a coin or common piece of gold.

The white is some kind of glass, I think. It's not enamel. Like a matte finish milk-glass. The red is a somewhat transparent glass, or something, with little shiny red things inside to glitter in the light. It is beautiful....I just wish my lighting was better. It looks MUCH better in reality.

It would be so nice to know how it got lost, and who lost it.

Your right on Golden, it is a thrill, even though I'm pretty new at it. Your absolutuly right in what your saying, it's exciting to wonder what in the heck was the history behind this piece I just found?
