ID Excel

Are there any sites that consolidate tips for using the ID Excel? Thanks in advance.

Hi Don,

The old ID Excel classroom was archived for a while but it seems to be gone now. :(

I have had good luck in trash using the FP mode with the sensitivity bumped up one notch to 7. Gets very good depth and doesn't seem to hurt seperation at all. Iron falses in the wet ground we have here right now are non existant at 7 also. Of course you want to go higher on the sensitivity when you can.

On fresh water beaches you want to turn the disc down at least -8 and check every audible iron hit to see if you can get it to climb to a good tone. The deeper small stuff like foil and thin chains will sometimes hit as iron on the first pass.

That about it from me.

Your right, alot was written on The C$...but I think that was in response to some bad internet press when the C$ came out. People needed help getting over the learning curve with the C$ & like Jackpine said the Excel was designed to be alot simpler. The C$ preset is too hot & the Excels seems perfect for beginners and pro's. You can read back some posts on this forum, & just feel free to ask any questions you want. heck ask a bunch in one post & we'll do our best to help. That's what the forums for ;)
HH, Bill

Thanks Tom, appreciate your advice and hope to try the detector out this weekend.

Thanks Bill. I am sure that I will be asking a lot of questions once I get the loop on the ground.
