ID Excel-War of 1812 button

deepnails

New member
Hello everyone! I've been using the ID Excel over the last couple of weeks and these are some of my better finds. The coins were all recovered from one wooded section of an old park that detectorists have gave up on long ago because there is nothing left. My friends and I have combed this small section of woods with almost every top detector made. I found all of these targets by digging targets which appeared to be iron, the most surprising was the two v nickels, both were in the same hole and registered like a square nail, they were about six inches deep. I've missplaced my Tice button book and could use some help identifing The war of 1812 button any help would be apprieciated. It reads E plurbis unum. I basically used Bill Ladds technique to make these finds along with appx. a couple of hundred nails. Most of these targets registered 36 after removing some dirt as most were fairly deep, 6-10 inches or so. Good luck hunting, Darryl.

So all of those targets hit as iron?

I guess I need to start digging the iron hits at a little spot I hunt that's drying up but holds some oldies.

Congrats on all the keepers

Hi Cal, They hit as iron in that there was a low iron beep along with a high coin chirp, just like your average square nail. Or similar to a three inch twentytwo shell- dual tone but mostly iron. The section of this park has been hammered so with the excel these are basicly the best signals left. My last time there with the CZ3D I found a couple of wheat cents over a foot deep and my last time there with my safari I found a barber half over a foot deep .
