New member
Bill i just updated from the cz-6 to the new id excel so far love it and the new technology is great i was looking at your field test on the id excel and was wondering how would you compare to the edge are you still having good luck with the excel?

Thanks Jeff Nova Scotia

Welcome to the forum and glad you got yourself an Id-Excel. Yes, I still have mine and though I have too many detectors, still enjoy using it, especially in trashy sites. The Edge is basically the same detector, with a few added bells & whistles like some more preset modes and some nothing capabiliy. The Edge control box also slides off the rod for wading or backpacking, and has small coils available. Other than that very similar units. Same number system & everything....
The Edge may have been given a little boost in the depth department, but the Excel is no slouch, and some still like the Excel better in iron/trash with the stock coil....
Best of luck with it, & anymore questions, fire away.....
HH,
Bill
PS. Hopefully you kept the CZ-6 as a backup. That was my first Fisher ID unit & I'll never let that one go.....

hello jeff im a avid metal detectorist here in maine and i too own a fisher id-excel for the last 2 years and and wouldnt part with it ever! i think im doing great with it i posted a few finds this year in this thread and my good coin finds have been 4 too 7 inches deep on penny sized coin in disc mode with sensativity set at 8and love the four tone id it really helps once you learn it awsome i think. also i dont think you will be un happy with your new detector in any way it is a winner for me and yes i do hang with the more expensive detectors of different brands and do just as good or better in my finds so just listen too what it is telling you and dig! so on that note happy hunting .
