ID Excel depth

Has anybody done some depth tests with ID Excel? How can it be compared to CZ or C$, or Whites if we talk about depth (not features)?
I am well aware that it depends on many factors (soil, operator etc.), but still would be good to know some exact details apart from what official marketing lines tell me.
Just thinking about getting one for me.
Thanks!

stock coil sensitivity on max
dime 8" but does not id right
quarter 10" some times it would id right
thats sitting near my computer and getting chatter on the detector
if they had a bigger coil for it it would be great but wont ever be my cz6a with its 10.5 coil
I do love the id excel man its fast on response it gets between the trash
I found a wheat penny in the same hole with a pulltab and a nail
it hit all three targets fast and gave a tone just as quick for them the penny was in the middle

rbholt80 - thanks!
Didn't quite get it - was that an air test?
Anybody else, please?

The C$ & Excel are not the most impressive airtesters. Where they shine are in the soil matrix & in trash.
I was hoping someone else would tackle this one I really don't like to pin wild claims using inches on coins. One time I said in a field test I dug a 7 in. dime. Next thing I knew the buzz on the forums was it only goes 7 inches deep But, I will say that for a mid-priced unit the Excel seriously holds it's own, alongside CZ's, C$. Not saying it has C$ depth, but it can be quite close depending on sensitivity settings, ground conditions, etc. A CZ is deeper, but the trade off is that the Excel will unmask goodies from trash a CZ can't....hope that helped, Bill

yea I think I should have left to bill.
It was an air test and the id excel does seem to work better with dirt in the picture.
So sorry if did not do the id excel justice.
I wouldnt trade mine for anything I love that little flaming coin beast.
Oh and in the 14 trips that ive used it i have found 123 wheaties 17 silver dimes 3 v nickles 8 buff nickles 7 silver nickels 1 silver quarter.
Fisher really knows how to build good detectors one cant go wrong with a Fisher of any model

Bill - thanks for input!
BTW - I enjoyed reading your field test report, good style. Should come up with book about your experiences
As I said before - definitely there are many factors that affect the depth in each case (like they say - place, operator, detector - and in that order!). I would not be surprised if somebody announced 10" once - it would be possible sometimes in extremaly favourable conditions. Nor will I be pissed off if I am not getting 10" constantly.
What I am looking for is honest info for this mid priced detector so that I know what I am buying. If people report 7" quite often - fine, I'll know that I got great MD with easy features and average 7" depth.
Otherwise all I was able to get - "goes deep", "excellent depth" etc, which is confusing.
Would love to hear more experiences - how deep you find your coins with ID Excel?

You did fine. I didn't really wanna touch that one, as I'm usually pegged as 'biased', or the "Fisher Pimp" But wow that's alotta wheaties! I'm not gonna say the Excel will hit a foot deep quarter (though it might), but I will say I'm not afraid to use it alongside a $1000 detector. I seriously don't feel like I'm losing much at all.....
