id egde coil

Could some one measure with and ohm meter the rx and tx coil resistance and post it for me. I dont have an edge but i do have an id-excel and was wanting to mod a bigger coil to work but if the id-edge coils have the same specs as the id-excel then i would buy one and use it for the excel. I just need to know the resistance of the coil windings on the id-edge to see how far off they are from the id-excel.

thanks

Maybe you could use one of these?

Well I dont have an inductance meter to test the mH of my coil. I was just going by resistance as its a good way to test a coil for general purpose. But thanks that did help some cause I do have a Cz6a. But I still need the resistance reading from an id-edge coil. I guess Ill have to buy one and test it to see if it will work.

Now that will be handy till i order another inductance meter. I dont know what happend to mine. I have all the formulas from my college classes but i didnt think to find inductance that way. Sometimes the simple things just pass us by like duh lol. Hey thanks

Im going to use a protected supply voltage with current limiting just to be safe. I would hate to burn up a coil. time to break out my old function generator and O scope

A small transformer that can only supply a few 100 mw would be safe on most coils.

Voltage is what its based on.

With a small transformer, you can use a POT to get it set up.

You don't need a Decade Box.

I have a 1 meg ten turn pot. I dont have a step down tran. thats why i was going to just use my function generator but now i have to repair that. It seems that it sat so long that some caps dried out and are causing a bunch of noise. One even shorted when i turned it on. I replaced it but the others are needing replaced. I may just junk out an ac to dc adapter and get the transformer out of it.

Now that is cool. I knew a sound card could work as a scope but I didnt know someone had mad a software package for that purpose. I suppose a very good sound card would have a better resolution verses a 16 pit card. But I guess for low Hz apps a 16 or 24 bit a to d converter would work just fine. So My card will work for what i need. Yay lol all digital scope right on my computer. Now i just need the time to do all this testing.

Thanks for that link I will download asap.
