ID Edge

HI; I recently got a ID edge. It did not have any video. I saw an add with a dealer and it advertised a video. In a reply to email to Company they stated none was available. Anyone know for sure????

Probably wouldn't help me much any way. My first 3 outings with the ID edge have been disappointing and discouraging. I am not a pro but have done quite a bit of "coin hunting" or "coin shooting" since 1969 with Garrett and 1998 with a Bounty Hunter Land Star. Perhaps I am used to a average detector and expect too much from all the bells and whistles.

though you are the 2nd person to mention it. Perhaps there was some confusion as most of the other Fisher's like the C$ do have VHS tapes. If Fisher says not available then that seems the case. Basically those video's are super short & just a quick intro to the unit anyhow. I think reading the manual a few times is alot better.....

RDJRich I just purchased a ID Exel it to has a startup video, but its very short. The manual will give you better information.I would take Bill's advice, and learn how to operate this detector, which I think your opinion will change.I started detecting about the same time as you,and the equipment then wasn't that great. Why is it harder to find silver now? In 1970 we only had to find a dime or quarter six years old to find a 1964 silver coin. Think about this if we found a six year old coin now that would be a 2000 coin a long ways from 1964 silver. The equipment has gotten better, but to find silver is much more difficult. Good luck with the new detector. Ron

Perhaps you both feel I neglected my homework. Well, a couple of months ago I downloaded the ID Edge operating manual and the field test by Bill Ladd. After reading those several times I downloaded ID Edge field test by Andy Sabisch from Lost Treasure magazine and read that several times. I then downloaded the Manual and field test for the ID Excel. After reading those I then found several other articles on general metal detecting, pinpointing with switches and buttons, deep recovery and finally maximizing your finds by Allen Morgan.
Perhaps I am over hyped and expected too much.

I tried again today and have found all I have to do is twist detector with coil in the air and it sounds off and also just touch or tap the back of the case and it sounds off and changes the screen. Has to be something that isn't talked about in the manual. Has anyone else noticed this abnormality???

you can't eliminate that falsing by turning down the sensitivity, then you have a faulty unit and it needs a trip to Los Banos.
