ID Edge Readings +36/-36????

riverguy

New member
Searched the forum on this problem but did not find any info, maybe using the wrong search words.

Was in the woods today the ID Edge in the OC preset. In several areas kept getting +36 and -36 readings. Could not dig deep to investigate 2 inch root and many roots in the way.

Does it mean there is both metal and maybe a silver dollar? or just what does that indicate?

Thanks for any input.

Also no Fisher classroom forum? Why is that? Or am I missing it somewhere else.

hi riverguy, still renting the edge i see...lol. from the experience i have had with my edge it seems when the id bounces from -36 to +36 it has always been deep rusted iron causing it. i dug several signals that acted the same way and it was always rusted nails or bolts that were deep. best thing to do is dig the target if you can to see for sure, but i'd bet it's iron causing it. a good target locks on and usually will fluctuate only one number or so depending on the angle you sweep the coil over it and how the target is laying in the ground. the edge does a great job with coins giving the correct id number. last weekend i took my edge to a local football field and in a little over 2 hours i found almost 6.00 worth of clad coins and nickels. every coin was what the edge said it was. good hunting with the edge.............roger

that bounce is normally an iron false with that unit. never found one single coin when it bounced from -36 to +36. now there is always the exception so if your not sure dig anyway to find out. iv found coins that were next to iron and hand bouncing #'s but not the -36 +36 bounce yet.

TIP: If your having a lot of bouncy numbers, try increasing the sweep speed a bit. The numbers should smooth out. The ID Edge likes a faster sweep speed, and it will give a bit better ID for you.

Thats why I keep a 5 inch coil on the Edge it dosent do that on a hot Rock for some reason?

your right there bill the guys i detect with think i swing fast but the edge hits hard on the target and respose on the id is better and not so jumpy
