ID Edge problem, need help.

I bought a used ID Edge in July. Used it about 4 times. Today I was testing the Notches, all notches work except for the pulltab notch. I still hear all the tabs. Maybe the detector has a problem or am I doing something wrong.

I checked a bunch of tabs on a MXT one time and got about 10 different numbers, some read nickel, some lower and some like a pennie..And if they were bent, then they were different...Good luck,,,hope this helps..

You said you used it 4 times, were you notching out pulltabs and if so, did you dig a lot of tabs when in actual use?

Didn't use any notches while detecting. Yesterday, during an air test in my cellar, I tried the notches , all notches work except pulltab notch. Tried all kind of tabs. I think this detector has a problem. Will have to get it fixed.

Hi Guys,

My ID edge ie almost brand new. I air tested it for proper notching.

Notched - pt and it still sounded off on three different types.
Notched - 1c works
Notched - 5c works
Notched - new tin foil works (and it won't even pick up new tin foil except in all metal mode. Got an even bigger wad of new tin foil, same results.

I think it is a design problem not a circuit malfunction on your machine. Just my opinion since it seems strange that a near new one would yield the same results.

I found out that the 5 cent notch nocks out most pulltabs. I opened the control box, there is no trimmer pots.

I was surprised how little there is in the control box (nothing to adjust), basically a single chip detector.

Amazingly the Edge is one of the lightest detectors out there:

Edge - 2.76 lbs
F70 - 2.94lbs
F5 - 3.0 lbs
F75 - 3.5 lbs
Coinstrike - 3.5 lbs
CZ70 - 3.8 lbs

There are so many pull tab types out there anymore that it can't get them all and yes the best setting for getting 99% is the nickle notch but then you lose
the nickles,if all your looking for is a coin/rings i've found that the old coin mode will get gold most of the gold and about all the coins. Isay that becouse it won't hit on some
I.H.pennys in the testing i've done, but i use mine wading in the lakes and have found alot of goodies with it so you might want to try the old coin mode and see how you like it
you do dig some trash but to get the goods you will AWAYS dig some hope this helps
