ID-EDGE problem, it won't turn off.

The other day I put some batteries into my ID-EDGE, ventured out into the yard for about 30 minutes to clear out some trash and maybe find something good. About a week later, I fired it up again to head out to the woods, and the batteries were dead. I replaced the batteries, and did about an hour of detecting. I turned the detector off and heard the detector power off ( with headphones on ). About 5 seconds later, I could hear a faint oscillating tone that changed in frequency. I turned the detector on and off again, and could hear the same weak tone after I turned it off. For some reason the detector isn't turning completely off. I left the batteries in the unit and they went dead in about a week. Has anybody had this problem ?
Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions, or experiences.

Never had that problem with mine. It will run on 1 or 2 batteries. Try running it on 1 new battery in either of the 2 battery compartments.

If I recall some had problems with that happening, on other detector models as well. Believe it had something to do with a bad tactile push button switch.

Thanks for the ideas. I also seem to recall some issues with the keypad. I don't know if it's worth the effort to send it back to the factory or just install a switch to disconnect the batteries. There's plenty of room in the case for a small toggle switch. A better idea is to use a flaky detector to justify a new Tek T2 or F75.
