ID Edge - Mini Field Test

Gatehider

New member
I took a day off yesterday to hunt with Bill and to check out the ID Edge. I found that the ID Edge is very quiet in hot rocks. Even though you might see -36 on the LCD, it does not audio report them.

What amazed me was I was able to hunt on audio alone without looking at the dang LCD all the time! I also DID NOT have to listen to millions of blips and hits like on another high end Fisher detector that I often "strike" out on in these tough hot rock conditions.

Anyway, I found that the Edge is very light and easy to swing all day and I really liked the audio response. It has a very neat and unique "pppinnnnggg" that is actually fun to listen too! It has a loud response, but it is somehow easy on the ears. I also found the cool tones were easy to discern for the various targets.

I actually found alot of stuff this time out and was rewarded with a 1853 seated liberty quarter, a crotal bell, a Tombac button and tons of whatzits! The coin was found in hot rocks...I believe I would not have found it without the EDGE!!!!

Anyway....I am honestly sold on this unit.....do you think that is why Bill wanted me to try it???? LOL

I will post pics soon....I get an error message that the photo is not the correct file type -currently(TIFF).....any suggestions????

Hey Gatehider, A couple of questions, if I may. Bill you can respond to this also if you may. Gatehider, have you ever used the ID ExCel?
Are the tones any different, than those of the ID ExCel? Would you describe the tones as the same as the ID Excel, or are they profoundly different? Did you have any experience in digging up any COAL or COKE Rocks? The other day, I used my ID ExCel in an old colonial field that is LOADED with Hot Rocks/Coal Rocks, and I was getting good hits on them, while they were in the ground. One other question, what Sensitivity were you using, and what kind of depth were you getting? Curious minds want to know! Many thanks for taking the time> HH

NVLTS,

I don't have experience with the ID Excel. The Edge settings were Sens -7, Disc -0, Nothing Notched.

Were you in a hunting "mode" e.g. old coin? Were you getting tones from any trash?
Thanks,
