ID Edge at the beach....

I hit the privite beach near my parents house & these quotes will be part of my field test. I wanted to be certain it worked well in our heavy black sands. I also wished to try out the very cool new gold jewelry preset. This mode does something that I loved having on my CZ-7a. That

It's worth noting:
The Edge balanced with 1 beep everytime in the wet sand right along the water. Often the Excel I need to go into dry sand to balance then walk down.....
I have confirmed w. FRL that poor balance will show w. that 3 beep warning....but I have yet to hear it. Which is good :D

mention that they were going to broaden the GB swing to include salt? Most Single Freqs you have to change a button/setting to enter salt mode. So does this new machine swing far enough "natively" to cover salt? Which is what you seem to be indicating.

If you have a chance next time you're near the beach, would you take a small piece of gold, set to FP, air test for distance, then GB against the salt, and re-air test for distance? It would be interesting to see if there is any sensitivity loss once the GB has swung that far. Because what you are describing is pretty wild!

If you have a chance to do that thanks, if not, I understand, you're a busy guy.

not sure when I'll be at a beach again, but sure I will try that.....
I was just surprised that I really TRIED to get 3 beeps & couldn't. If I had an excel in my car I could have tried that in the same wet stuff....would have been quite interesting if the Excel gave multi beeps & Edge couldn't. So, yes, since there no salt mode per say like a C$ has maybe fisher did incorporate something to handle it a little better. Speaking of the C$, I believe the manual, or Fisher said at one time many beaches the C$ works better w. SALT off.....
So, I hope folks don't shy away from the Edge just because it does not separate out a salt mode. If my beach test is any indication, the Edge looks good thusfar beach-wise.....
I'll have to try some other beaches to be sure....
