I Believe this is the LA-3 Louisiana state seal button. Can anyone confirm the id and give me an approx value. I found this in E. Tn several years go along with 2 58 cal minnies that day. TIA

Nice find ! Looks like the real thing. value ??

Check out this web-site that sells buttons for re-enactment uniforms. They pride them selves for being as close to the real thing as they can get.

Yours is a coat button. Check out this listing on flee bay, # 320671135384 ($950 wow - huh? BUT just because he's asking, doesn't mean he'll get it). I clicked "completed listings" and this one came up # 140520915143, it's a cuff button -sold for $ 177.51. The $950 didn't sell.

Thanks... I'll check it out..

Thanks...

With that backmark and condition I would say around 200 to 250. Super find. I just looked in the Price Guide and it says around 375 to 425. That sounds better.

Yes, that does sound better....... Thanks..
Btw... duggap, is the button indeed the LA-3 variety?

That button is a LA3 Louisiana coat button. I'm no expert but i've seen a few of these in my area. How the button would standout in a case, the cracks, pushes, any damage, patina, overall wear, strength, and condition of and straightness of the shank all go into pricing. Finally, the amount of gilt gold remaining on the button itself will raise the price. Judging solely from the picture (front and rear ) the ones i've seen similar to yours sell for around $350. Hope this help. JMHO. Congrats. That is very very nice find. CCH.

That helps a lot.... thanks
