Hit the lane solo this morning for the low tide, 3:30 to 7:30. Saw nobody for 2 hours and then I saw Norm and Rob, then on my way out David from Suffolk.

Had some good targets popping for a while and within the first 15 minutes I found the big silver ring, which in the dark looked like gold/silver/platinum...who knew??? I hate that, toting around a "nitro" ticket for hours, thinking you might HAVE something and it's crap later. Well, it IS silver...silver and CZ.

BUT...then there's the gold. I spent a good 20 minutes on that one. It was rolling around in the surf and I lost it several times. But the tone was AWESOME and I knew it was gold so I kept on. I about fell over when I saw it in the scoop. Looks to be a 1 carat marquis-cut diamond. Fits the wife. She's a happy camper. Found nothing good after that. Didn't matter. :biggrin:

...if the stone TESTED GOOD???

I KNEW it was good. I mean, it was 14K. And it LOOKED real. And the wife sure thought it was. And after cleaning it up, we were like "Oh, HELL YEAH! It's real!

And then I put the tester on it. Tester said "I'm speechless..." As in "Didn't make a peep!" As in "GLASS". Man, was I ever bummed. And the wife was too. Looked like I might have surpassed that sparlker from last summer but it was not to be. So we can all DREAM ON some more because that next one might be the real deal. I'll be out there again tomorrow looking for it. :)
 
Maybe a cheap a$$ fiancee. Or there is always the unscrupulous jeweler that swaps out the real stones for fakes.... We had a big case here about 15 years ago, where a jeweler was swapping out stones for years.....

Yeah, that's kind of why I thought it was a no-brainer that it was real. Heh...maybe that's what the OWNER thought too??? You never know...guys have been known to do some dastardly things to get to "the holy grail"! :lol:
