Ice cold gold

After buying ten mega ball lottery tickets that only had one of the numbers out of the total, I shrugged it off as my "norm".
Went back to the boardwalk construction, which has been pounded for over a month by lots of hunters. I picked up a few wheaties, no silver. Actually any coin pulled out here now, is a bonus. While playing with settings on my DFX and placing a coin on the piles of nails and checking the results, I eyeballed what I knew immediately was, either a piece of rope or a chain. I wish I had my camera with me, so I could have taken a pic of it, before I picked it out of it's grave, it was opened, must have dropped off the ladies neck and slid thru the boardwalk crack, like a snake.
I ran the DFX over it and didn't get any tone, but got a 2+ visual reading, while moving the 4X6 eliptical slowly around it.
On the way home, I recalled that I had rejected 9+(nickle reads 20+) and down out. It's really rare to find gold in this stuff because of the boardwalk spacing between boards. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

Houndawgg,

Nice find. I was out yesterday and discovered the boardwalk construction. I haven't been out in a while and the first thing that came to mind when I noticed the construction was "I am sure this area has been hit a lot." As always, being the first to get there helps. I wonder if the construction crew found any objects just sitting on top of the sand? I was wondering about the distance between the original boards as well, but I guess your find sums it up. I hit the beach and found a section with coins, but again, probably the best time was to hit the beach just after the last storm. About a year ago, two guys asked me if I was houndawgg, but I said no (obviously).

Happy hunting.

Man, the slight breeze was brutal, felt like a blow torch on my cheeks.
The boro workers might find some surface coinage, I really haven't seen them move much(lol). A couple of years back, when they did the piece in front of the old McDonald's, they made a shieve and would get first crack at the finds. I haven't seen them ever do that anymore, maybe their supervisor put the hammer down on them.
It's a shame, they only took out minimal sand from under the boards, unlike about 5 yrs. ago, they went down about five foot and some nice silver was found.
I'm toying about doing some shieving, but so far, haven't gone past that stage.
Maybe I'll be down there Wed. or later, when the temp rises a little.

I couldn't believe I eyeballed the tiny cross when I went to the beach Sunday, especially with frozen tear ducts. :)

There was a lot of junk under the boardwalk and sieving is always an option, although pretty labor intensive. It could be worth it though. I found a merc after a boardwalk replacement in another area. It's always fun to find some silver. Best of luck.

Ghost team,

Good to see you are back. Haven't seen you in a while. Any good finds from the winter? I remember you showing some nice posts in the past.
