Ice Cold Gold- Coming to Animal Planet April 21

Discovery has decided to add gold prospecting to its ever increasing "Animal" Planet Tv channel. From the looks of the commercial, it is likely to be another Gold Rush style show, except with a polar bear threatening their very survival. HH and GL

We've been anticipating the shoe. A couple of the Colorado guys are my friends and they were sworn to secrecy until now. I think it will be a good show. Last summer they were dancing a jig, just waiting to get to Greenland. The tryouts were rigid and they wouldn't even consider anyone over 40?? Friend Chad said it was rough as the devil, much tougher than Alaska!?? I'm really anxious to see the show.

Gold prospecting on the animal planet. Did you know I have a pet nugget? Right, I always thought of gold as being an animal - not.

Found really very little on the internet about this show beyond a notation of its existance and the fact it was filed in Greenland.

I guess every prospector in the US will soon have his / her own TV show.

Steve, are you ready to get going on our reality TV show? We are late in the game and at this point we need to come up with something really outrageous. We could wrestle Grizzly bears guarding an old mine shaft full of gold and then travel to the ocean to rip open the guts of some dangerous sharks who might have swallowed some gold. And that will all be before the first commercial! After that we cold have a shoot out at Fort Knox to get the gold in there....and ......

Maybe I'll just stick to regular prospecting.......

This is Chad. Animal Planet has been keeping this thing hush since we got back from Greenland for many reasons I wont get into. I can tell you it is one of the most difficult places to prospect I have ever been. The show is not another Gold Rush type show, as we are in fact prospecting. I am not going to give to much away at this point. I hope that you will all watch the show! Have a great day. I will give you a call this weekend John.

Good morning Chad and welcome to the forum. We'll be watching on the 21st. Good talkin to you.

Hi Chad,

Since you are kind enough to have posted here I will withhold my normal comments on the gold shows and give yours the benefit of the doubt. I hope you can tell us a bit about the reality of it (the real reality) without violating your contract.

I am going to attempt to shoot as much video this summer as possible. Just shoot everything. Sooner or later I will patch a video together out of it.

I will let you guys know as much as I can of course. The show follows me and the company I am part owner of, 60 degree resources, as we prospect Greenland for its vast amount of mineral resources. Good old fashioned prospecting. We used mostly pick pans and shovels. Its a beautiful harsh hard place to be. John can tell you about my past experience. I have been prospecting and mining going on 24 years now. I have a guide business here in Colorado, Tin Pan Prospector Outfitters. Due to my involvement in Greenland I will be open only a couple months this year. Please feel free to ask me any thing you want.

I will give the show a shot. Still waiting to catch a Prospectors episode from last week.

The prospectors will come on in about 30 minutes on weather chanel. My time is 9:30 central right now. don't know if it's a re-run, but bet it is.

It will be interested to see what the edited version comes out looking like - compared to your actual experience in the field. Audio comments can be put with video taken at a different time to produce all kinds of effects that didnt really happen that way. Its amazing how much editing, background music and other effects can change the view of the watcher. I've done some stuff thats been heavily edited and its always suprising to see the final version as compared with how one remembers the actual series of events.

Ha Ha, reality shows? We are bombarded over here in OZ with overseas reality, :heh:, shows. The classic thing about them is they all look so fake, and are. What about Hardcore Pawn . Saw one episode where you could see or just make out that the guy selling and came in off the street was actually wired/miked up. How about the ones where they go and knock on a door of someones house and are followed by the camera guy and mike boom guy and yet the person who opens the door doesnt look at the camera even once and acts, note the word acts, like they are not even there. Have a look at people when a camera is really put in their faces unexpectedly and the first thing they do is look at the camera, and keep looking at it now and then. What about in those shows when the person gets angry, supposedly angry, why dont they say things like "get that @#$% camera outa my face man" like people in that situation would and really do say? Cant believe so many people fall for them.
Sorry, but when I saw the word "reality" it makes me laugh
Cant stand to watch them and dont anymore.

Animal Planet: Surprisingly Human

WHOA, I just remembered . . . humans are animals too!
Things aren't always what they seem. A mouse in a maze is not about the cheese, but about the mouse and how it searches for the cheese.

Yes Chris, it WILL be interesting how they 'spin' it!

New sneak-peek, 3 video's. About 6 minutes for all three. Check-er-out!

has the usual drama of who is in over their head and who needs to shut up, but not as bad as some I have seen before. Saw and recognized some of the gear they were using: Garrett pans and sifter, along with a few other types of pans, the blue spiraling wheel, ect. I was also not surprised with the expensive prices they encountered in Greenland. Transporting just about anything is pricier the further you get from its production center, as well as the difficulty of getting it there. The consumer price ends up skyrocketing by the time it gets to the buyer. Anything I am forgetting to mention this late at night? HH and GL
