I wrote this article some years back on converting your gold and silver rings and jewelry into cash. Thought it might be of interest..

Here's a few numbers to help you through the maze.

480 grains = one troy ounce
24 grains = one pennyweight
20 pennyweights = one troy ounce
Grams to pennyweight - multiply grams times the factor of 0.643 to attain pennyweights.
Divide price of gold by 20 to arrive at price per pennyweight.
