I would like to hear TIPS for my PIONEER202.

This site doesn't give much feedback..well atleast this BH forum...I would like to hear tips on using a Pioneer 202 detector. No luck.I have found alot of copper mostly..wheat pennies..an 1837 token and newer pennies. I do find quarters, dimes and nickels as well..just not too many. Everytime I turn my machine on I use a different random setting. Will somebody please give me good info on using one. I have many great hunting sites here in Beloit, WI. Is there any other bounty hunter forums any other sites..? I took the time to post a great pic of my token find because people love pictures and I didn't even get much feedback on that, if any. I just feel like this site provides as much as I expected. Does anybody else feel this way?..

Keep your SENS at 12 oclock to start. Only turn it up if the detector remains quiet (no falsing)...DO NOT turn your DISC past 10 o'clock, or your gonna lose nickles and gold items...You gotta dig them pulltab and screw cap signals to get gold...If your DISC is too high, all your gonna get is clad and silver...
Keep your swings low and level with the ground...no golf swings...If the coil is lifted at the ends of your swings, your gonna get a lot of falsing chatter...overlap your swings, and go slow...No rush..the goodies are not gonna move too quickly...Always use fresh batteries...Get the PowerEx 9.6 volt rechargeable..get 2 sets...Well worth the money in the long run...last a long time, and pay for themselves after about 3 charges...2 9V Alkalines around here run about 10 bucks for coppertops...My Discovery 3300 chews batteries up in about 6 hours of hunting...I have 3 sets of the PowerEx 9Volts...Make sure you keep the box dry, wipe down your coil after each hunt...make sure your coil plug to box connection is secure...Easiest way to eliminate falsing is to turn the SENS down a little at a time until it stops...

Hope this helps...

If you are finding pennies, I would say the reason you are not finding dimes and quarters is because you are NOT walking over them. Triple G has alot of good advice. Although I am not one for lower discrimination. When I started out with my Pioneer 202 I set both dials at 2 o'clock. Try to find a site that is detected less often and see if your percentages don't improve. Still 50% of your coins will be pennies.

You have already got some good advice, I too know a lot of good areas where I used to live, and still know some other people don't and that is the key knowing
places others don't and using good techniques like the other people here described, research is the key, library, computer, older people in your community
can tell you allot about and area others don't know, .......on the computer, try this web site historical aerials . com. someone in one of the forums told us about that map
I use it along with google map. or Bing maps I hunt allot of old house foundations or where houses once stood. I am still doing a lot of research in the area I just moved
I just met a guy that lives here that also metal detects that his family moved here in the 1850's he is also retired knows a lot of history about this area, I have a new
partner Yea! some of my best finds were with my old bounty hunter, anyway good luck I hope this was some help, best way to find out is to ask questions like you did
and like one of the guys told you read some of the other forums, lots of good tips, even if they are using a different type of detector.

It's summer and detecting time. Most folks are out swinging, not posting or reading as much as in wintertime. Google Pioneer 202 and the equivalent BH model: the Quick Draw II. These have been sold for so long, there is a ton of info on them already posted in the old pages and archives. Also search for metal detecting forums. A good detectorist knows how to utilize all kinds of info at his fingertips and at his local library and elsewhere. No need to wait on someone to come back from a hunt and post it for ya, go seek it!

Ha, I'd like to say that I have great knowledge on all that talk about researching and studying..atleast for in my area. Thanks though!. I am 23 yrs old and have been studying my town and the surrounding towns for ten years now. I also was given three great books of Beloit. My grandparents passed them down to me. I have a passion for history, mostly local so far. I take great time out to enjoy hours upon hours in the two local libraries, studying books, maps and photographs. I LOVE IT..!! Would like to say I wasn't meaning to sound rude in the previous posting...not in anyway. I consider myself a beginner detectorwise and appreciate all help, tips and even critisim. I don't mind that at all. I am just open to all sites and forums that will help me with my machine. I assume there are more out there...anywho, I listened to some of the tips off this site and am starting to learn my machine more. I have recently only found two wheats dated 1956 and 1936..along with some other change. I haven't been out much. I've got two sons..a almost 4yr old and an 8mo old. I haven't had much spare time lately. I hope to get back out in these next few days...I don't expect anybody to jump online and give quick feedback either..it's not even like that. Lmao. What a joke....HH.
