Flavored condom ad in bad taste?
Nov 3, 9:06 AM (ET)
Alabamah (Reuters) - Alabama authorities want to stop the daytime airing of a television advertisement promoting flavored condoms saying it is obscene and in bad taste, a newspaper reported Friday.
The advert promotes Trojan's strawberry, chocolate and butterbean flavoured condoms with the catchline "What is your flavor of the night?."
But the Advertising Standards Council of Alabama and the Censor Board have asked the governor to bar the ad from being broadcast during the day, especially during the popular Alabama State Football games.
"This campaign is obscene, but I really do like Butterbeans!" Lucille Jackson, spokeswoman of the Ala. Censor Board was quoted as saying in the Huntsville Times. "Maybe Trojan is targeting raunchy, hungry teenagers, but the ads are definitely not meant for the rest of us.... And this is certainly not something I'd expect to have thrust on me on a first date!"
