I wonder what's on the ML drawing boards...

Wouldn't it be great if they were actually working on a light weight waterproof version of the Explorer. Sort of a ML version of the new Garret AT-Pro. Man that would sell like hotcakes.

That is my wish - Light weight and waterproof.

What would your wish for a new ML machine be? (no wishing for marginal improvements with a new name, haha)

Sounds good. The way they follow the leader could be. My wish is that they would finally get it right and put a fast processor in the darn thing. I dont see them selling anything that is going to be in a good price range like the AT. Id also like to see it have the ability of a PI in minerals. Give me a toggle switch for Pinpointing. How about a screen you can see. Work on that variability and get the tones separated a little better on the higher and nickel level. Work on the weight... without making it cheap. How about heavy duty cavalar. Id like to see another explorer... not an Etrac, but im sure the money is just to good to change whats working for them. Give us a pair of wireless headphones that work. Stright shaft with better balance. Other than that im good.

Id still like to buy American.

I have heard through the grapevine that they are releasing a new water detector....along the lines of the Excalibur. Could be totally wrong about that, but it is the only rumor I have caught wind of.

they will do only if some other company will make it better, till then they will sell what they have, but with small improvements, etrac is one from this story. heavy and still the same explorer with few pluses. what they would do with all the rest detectors from they line if they start to make detector like you most friend want, light, waterprooft, with best screen and etc.? Stasys

Stasys.... thats possible, but look at fisher. They have been producing detectors like crazy. I dont think their detector sales are hurting.... now resale... maybe.

why don't they just try harder to keep up with service and spare parts? they are short on lower shafts again or still. :poke:

Lots of great ideas there. From following this forum for years, I would expect maybe the most petty of your suggestions will be fulfilled in the future. Someone mention add a port so that we can exchange settings about 8 to 10 years ago - finally got it, but why??? I bet less than 50 people have ever even shared a setup. People have been struggling with the weight of the machine and posting on that since day one. You would think they could have trimmed a tiny bit of weight in all those years.

It is odd since ten years ago when they came out, it was top of the line to have a 500MB hard drive in your computer with 256k of ram... They should be able to shrink the control box down to the size of the display and yes, have it process about 100 times faster. I am no electronics expert though.

Sadly, I do not think ML really listens to us users. I have no reason why except maybe that they haven't been blown-away by another brand yet. Once that happens you will see some big changes to catch up.

Thanks - BF

They remind me some times of GM. People told them for years what they wanted..... but did they listen? By time they did..... With all these Ipads and electronic booms youd think weight, screen, stright shaft, and even the ability to plug in would be easy. Sharing programs.... you know thats not always the answer. Getting out and using the machine is. You cant learn any machine if you only use it a couple times a month. Id pay for a machine i could go onto the internet for upgrades to the processors like i do for my GPS. It sure would be cheaper than buying a new machine every time. But thats not likely because there just isnt a huge market. They have to sell the whole ball of wax. The biggest problem with any machine is seeing past all that iron. Once they can truly disc then we are in the ball park for some good times.

only one company did something new its French XP DEUS, you can change recovery speed, processor sits in the coil and you can loose control panel :stretcher:-like some people do, because its wireless. I had Deus in hands very nice ,but its still not perfect and very expensive. but its light years in front, just for innovations.

Less weight, lighter detector, less heavy, less pounds, reduced heaviness and also lighter.

Hey Neal.... what ya trying to say:shrug: What you arent happy about all that work out you get.... think of the gym fees you are saving.

Good one - you made me laugh!! I think that weight would be the first thing they would work on.

They could make a waterproof one that had minimal or no display, and was very lightweight.

Oh well, we have been asking for 10 years, I guess it isn't going to happen.

Good to hear from you. - BF

Its a simple request... but i guess it entails completely redesigning everything. Thats a lot of cost compared to just putting new guts in the old box every time. If we are going to be charged for new tech.... then lets see ALL NEW TECH. then ill pay the price for an upgrade. Other for those putting out 4 or 5 machines a year ill just buy your used ones that no one can get rid of because their resale is in the toilet.

to make new product,like-lighter detector is not cost to much compare with moving factories from USA and Europe to other part of the world, like for example in Ireland now you can produce cheaper then in Indonesia if factory was not moved . Now days companies concentrated on profit but not serving people and making product better and more interesting. I think world should pass this evolution chapter after they will see that this profit and money religion is not working. but till this times ends we will buy profit detectors for hunting profit and in the rest minutes we will eat Profit for body Profit :lmfao:

sounds pretty close stasys.

whites put out the xlt back in 93'? i bought mine last may. it's very well balanced and is the same weight as the se. it doesn't have to add parts inside to cure the bal. problem. it will take a re-design to fix it though. a brand new processor isn't hard to do either.the garrett ace 250 is faster.

I wish there was a way to designate a special tone for certain target signals ... like a coin target next to low tone trash ... for example say if I just started to hit a deep coin but then the target got overwhelmed by a surface tab ... so tone starts out a couple ticks high but then immediately drops low ... now if my brain is sharp maybe I will work it for a better coin signal and then dig but sometimes it is hard work trying to keep the brain engaged trying to listen for those hidden signals ... maybe there are other "classic" trash hidden signals that a smarter computer could do a better job sorting though than a brain?
