I wonder if you can change the response of the tones???

I think you can change the tone of response..the vid..make a 30-45 have a sound you like for example...I think this is right..

Thats great to hear..

Yes, you can. The 800 has more flexibility than the 600. Here is a quote from Steve Herschbach earlier today over on detector prospector. He does an excellent job describing how the tones work.

While I appreciate the compliment, I respectfully request that my original copyrighted material not be copied and used elsewhere without my express permission.

Whoops, sorry Steve. Ignorance is not an excuse, but it's at least an explanation, I didn't know your forum posts were copyrighted material. My sincerest apologies. It's just such a temptation to quote you when you've already said something so perfectly.

Moderators please take down my post containing the quote. This is a good reminder to respect copyrights and to do your homework before quoting someone. We all want to stay on the right side of the law.

Don’t worry about it. No point in sweating small stuff. Copyright does allow for quoting, but only in a limited fashion, like a line or mabe a paragraph. Regardless, It is not something I want people to think I don’t care about. I put lots of effort into my writing and I prefer it be kept where I can correct or update it at will. Thanks in advance for the consideration!

Thanks Steve for giving me a pass on this one, now I don't have to make a run for the border. It's obvious you put a lot of time, effort, and careful thought into your writing, so that makes perfect sense.

I'm as excited as the next guy about the Equinox. The 800 is the way to go to make sure advanced users get all the possible adjustability. The additional tone adjustments, in addition to the 20 and 40 kHz gold modes, are the biggest reason to go for the 800 over the 600 for the advanced user. So anybody trying to make the 600/800 decision should be really interested in how the tones work, and your explanation will help them decide.

I was sure hoping to hear that, that's one of the many features I love about the CTX, combined tones and the tone break ability. I sure hope it kept the Etrac-CTX tones![/quote]

Since the scale is the same as the Safari I would guess on 50 tones it will have that same flute like sound.

Overall this was one of the things I wanted along with a no hassle battery I am quite pleased.
Now I begin to wonder if the "imaginary" EQ 1000 will also add the ability to swap settings & do a few more things. If it proves out
in the wet salt sand it may kill the Safari & give a smooth transition to the E-Trac price wise.

BTW you cant do that on Safari BUT high end stuff trickles down. There was a time when you could only get an OHV V-8 on an Olds
before it became the standard on all V-8's ( 1955 ?) a few yrs later.........

Let me get this straight ,.....you posted information on one public forum to answer questions about a metal detector and you would complain about it being quoted in another public forum to answer said questions without permission.....even with proper acknowledgment that it was YOUR information ????

Unbelievable.....

Its not as if he was plagiarizing , misusing the information , or changing it.

Relax.

As much as I like and respect Steve, I have to agree with you. That was not a cool move. A PM would have been better.

Steve------That was an excellent report you gave (and that was quoted here).-----I went to your Forum but could not find it.------A question---why didn'
t you post it here as well?----Just asking!------There are a LOT of members here that put a high value on the excellent posts/info you provide (myself included).---In this case, in regards the Equinox.-------------Del

I am a writer who maintains a website and forum where my writing is the major draw. Yes, it is all covered by copyright, and yes, I do look to protect my rights. You clearly have no respect for those rights or perhaps you just don’t understand what they are. This in my opinion is not a quote but a major subsection of an article taken out of context. Copying my content without permission is a misuse of my content and I am required to protest that misuse in order to protect my rights.

If I had used a PM the only option was to demand the content be deleted. I thought it better to let it ride and to ask that people refrain from doing this in the future. If that is not good enough for you guys then I will request that this thread be deleted.

If my writing has no value, as you imply, then people should not have a problem leaving it where I want it.

Del, Findmall has strict rules of their own, and links to other sites is one of them.

If he was taking your copy righted material and re selling it or using it on His personal websight for profit that would be a completely different story. If you don't want your work going out on the interwebs don't post it on the interwebs. Matter a fact you just got free advertising and you complain about it? I respect copyright law like no other. But a person should think about what the goal is before posting to a public forum. There is a real good chance you just lost some of your "draw" with that kind of thinking. I wish you the best either way

How did my response get taken as no respect for copyrights ? And I seen no misuse or even anything out of context , just someone quoting you.....in context .....to help answer questions , and isnt that what these forums are all about ? Nobody said your writing has no value , nobody used your writing for their own personal gain , and nobody did any harm to it ....or you. So I just dont see what the " attitude " is about. But thanks for giving me some insight on your writing , I will be sure to avoid it completely in the future.

I have to agree sounds like someone is getting a Big Head and needs to get over himself it is Metal Detector for crying out loud.

I rarely post, just absorb the excellent advice and opinions I read on this forum. IMO I feel Steve Herschbach just made an informative personal observative post that many other equally qualified posters make, and turned it into a joke. You are nothing special Steve, and your posts, should you care to post them, do NOT need to be copyrighted.

Steve, I think this was a 'one-off' event and as such you should have just let it slide.....

I think folks getting a 'taste' of what you offer on your own site would be beneficial in getting them to take a look at more of your work
on your own forum....

cheers
