I wonder if fisher will still make the 1236-x2

Just sitting here wondering fisher is dropping all the current models or just introducing a couple of new ones.

I would hate to see the 1236 done away with.It is one of my all time favorite detectors.

Im loving the T-2 but the 1236 is still the one to beat in real thick dense iron other detectors cringe at.Put a 5 inch on the 1236 and turn the silencer off and man that baby will pull the goodies with the best of them possibley in my mind the most perfect metal detector ever made for pulling the low conductors out of the iron.

Just hate to see a unit like that go to the wayside.

I could'nt imagine a revamp unless it was lighter but dont touch nothing electrical.

Never could figure how that thing gets the deepies in the bad ground say better than a bandido 2 umax or such and they have ground balance.

Not trying to put down another detector but it dose what it dose and it dose it goooood.

Oh well have to wait and see.

If they do keep on making them I hope the First Texas ones are made in the U.S. I know a couple of the last 1236 I had came from overseas.Worked fine but well you know.

O.K.

Just thinking and hoping.

I agree Keith the 1236-X2 is a detector worth keeping in the lineup and at $320.00 is a major bargain! Nothing and I mean nothing I have tried will pull small 10k kids rings out of the iron infested shallows we have in the lakes around here like the 1236. The higher frequency machines are suposed to be better on small gold in those conditions but the 1236 doesn't know that! Some come close but, well you already now the rest.

I feel the same way Keith. I use the 1236-x2 and the Musky for all of my relic hunting. I have one of the older hard to find 5X10 DD coils for my 1236. This DD coil runs smooth in my nasty mineralized ground and it makes this great detector even better in the iron infested sites I hunt.

I have a couple of them my self.Ill tell you a good one its the extremely rare 6" super search made by a guy in Dacula Georgia. he made about 100 or so. there deeper than the 8" and and as god a target seperation as the 5" and light as a feather.

But yes the 5x10 are great in extreme minerals also fantastic seperation side to side.

All the coils are nice though I usually run the 5" concentric exclusively
Not much of an open ground hunter I like to hunt old house sites you know the one where all thats left is maybe the chimney if you're lucky.

I still feel the 1236 is the most over-looked detector in the relic fields. Ive seen guys smirk at me for running one and on some of the relic forums I've read where they are joking about someone running one.

I'll tell you this once you're accustomed to the 1236 and its attributes there's not much than stay with it in dense iron ive proven it many times to myself.

The fisher 1236 is no depth demon but I belive it will get 85-90% of whats in the ground in the depth area.It. will get 75% of whats in the iron. Why 75% well the other are probably getting 10% less no matter how you run them.and there probably 25% we just cant get with todays technology not sure if there ever will be technology to see behind another target.probably not in our lifetimes anyway.

I've heard of the 6 inch super search but haven't seen one yet. I'm a big fan of DD coils for my bad ground and hunting sites. 90% of my hunting is old lumber mill ghost towns and logging camps and the 1236-x2 along with the Mnelab Advantage are the two best detectors I've used at these iron infested sites. I haven't tried the 5 inch on the 1236 yet but do use the 5 inch EXcelerator coil on my Advantage. I have gained so much trust in these two detectors that I've sold all my other detectors. I did pick up a nice CZ-70 Pro a couple of months back for cherry picking old silver but haven't even used it yet. I keep grabbing the other two when I head out the door.

Not much to add except about 6 months ago i traded my 1236x2 that i bought in 2001 and had second thoughts so i bought another nice used one and gonna keep it this time :beers: Here's a pic of the 6" coil crazyman. HH Bill

My 1236x has pulled up a lot of silver coins in places I was convinced was cleaned out.I've used a lot of detectors and this one is one of my all time favorites.Probaably overlooked because its so simple.A lot of hunter's think that this is a beginner's unit, but I totally disagree only a seasoned hunter can aprreciate this great detector. So let the nonbeleiver's snicker and laugh Someday they will see the light after they go head to head in the field or a compitition hunt against the 1236x.

I have got a friend that uses the 1236 and also has the Coinstrike and prefers the 1236 over the C$. I have got one 1236X2 left new in the box and I am almost afraid to let it go. I'm still waiting to see what is going to happen to the older models like the Goldbug2, 1236x2, Gemini-3 and so on. I picked up a CZ7A about a year ago and was so impressed with it I also picked up a Fisher dealership! Ok maybe First Texas will hang onto a few of them for awhile. God Bless and happy hunting everyone!

I foolishly traded the 1236x2 after using an Advantage almost 2yrs. I kept the 5" Fisher and Super Coin coils and glad i did. Now i have a 1236x2 again along with the Musky and keeping both.I remember when you posted that coil and offered one for sale. Thanks again !! HH Bill

I'll have to keep an eye out for one. I like the solid coils over the spiders for my woods hunting.
