Congrats Jason  definitely a prize for sure rings like that one are far and few between . Good story i have a similar story i spent 2 hours in wet sand and knee deep water with just a few coins and junk i said enough i was on my way back to my truck i was swinging the coil in dry white sand and BINGO !! a solid 160 on the meter it was a nice 14k man,s gold band about 5 inches deep about 2 minutes from my truck lol . Minelab see,s what a great machine they HAD !!! did you ever get a monetary value ? just curious . HH Jim

WTG Jason, that is one beautiful honking ring you got there:clapping:

People spend a fortune for the latest "smart phone", and then only months later dump it for pennies to spend a fortune of the latest model. Does it make calls any better? Does it dial numbers with more ease? No, the truth is technology and sales spurts these days are more based on bells and whistles, which do nothing to improve the actual performance, and are more apt to catch the latest customer in techonologies web more than anything else to "BUY BUY BUY!"

VLF technology has it's limits, and Minelab has pushed those to the extremes, to where it's more about the coil, than any amount of "bling" that is riding on it with a fancy display IMO.. A detector can't see what a coil can't see seperately or as deep as another coil.

Sure, with Minelab's unique way to ingore the ground signal to insure maximum depth and ID at those depths, they are in some respects way above the competition...But beyond that it's all about the proper coil for the proper site to push VLF to the very edge of what it has left to ofer, and I have yet to see in head to heads anything that will cause me to move on. If I did, believe me I"d drop the GT like a hot potatoe.

Not about brand or model loyalty to me. All about depth and unmasking. Beyond that, for my tastes it comes down to high resolution condictivity VDI in the mid and sub ranges for when I'm feeling "particular", and long detailed audio to anylyze target traits. The Sovereign has all these things in spades, so I don't go anywhere else until something shows me any better depth or unmasking, and as icing on the cake will report targets to me in fine audio traits that haven't been processed into a nice clean rapper as far as "good or nod good", with a lessor extent in some situations what the VDI in the sub and mid range can tell me...

Never been about brands or models to me, only about what I see in the field, and with the GT and 12x10 I see no reason to ditch it and move on. Until I see otherwise, the money doesn't come out of the wallet to buy another "cake", no matter how fancy decorations are put on are put on the icing...

Nice find, and they are getting rid of the GT !!!! Shame on them
