The Book of Psalms

Chapter 91

1. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Mt 4:6

12. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Mt 4:6

13. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

I would like to share with each of you what I believe and how I feel about this Psalm. "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Whom I will trust." He is my Heavenly Father and there is none like Him. He has chosen to love me, care for me, and bless me even though I don't deserve it. He sent His son to die a cruel death that I should have gotten and I was given freedom that He deserved. Because of my sins, I was one of those who pierced Him. I nailed Him to that tree. And do you know what He did? He forgave me and I feel so unworthy. My Heavenly Father raised Jesus, from the dead and honored Him with His rightful position and He ever resides in Heaven pleading my sinful case before the Father. After all of that, how can I not accept Him as my Lord & Savior? He bought me at a price and my life is not my own. He protects me and gives His Angels charge over me and they watch over me in all my ways. He tells me that no pestilence will over take me and that I need not fear anything. How can I not honor a God who has done so much for me? I have no choice but to bow before Him in complete humility, ask forgiveness for all I've done and serve Him with every fiber of my being. Gog Is Love!

Amen, Martin. Psalms 91 means so much to me. I try to pray through it every day and am learning to memorize it through song (that works best for me). Have you read any of Peggy Joyce Ruth's books? Her books and those written by Jen Hatmaker have really influenced me. If you've read Peggy's book, you will probably remember her illustration of a mother hen sheltering her children. I love that and think of it often!

Thank you Martin, I love this Psalm as well. I appreciate the post. This is what this forum needs to get back to; The true love of our Heavenly Father and our Salvation through Jesus Christ, the love for our families, our health and our Blessings and... oh yeah, metal detecting. :) God Bless my Brother in Christ and I'm sending you the biggest hug from way down here in North Cackalacky :)

Greg

Thanks for the strong words of Testimony Martin, they mirror my thoughts.

I suppose Ps91 is a favourite of many of us, I just love the Psalms.
