I will not be returning this High School ring................

I am used to hunting on the ranches down here in South Texas and now that I am living in the city, I am having to adapt to a different atmosphere in finding old sites to hunt. This is a beautiful day so I decided to hunt at an old junior high school that my son told me about. At one time this was the high school for the area. It was only twenty minutes from the house so that is where I headed to find some good treasure.

I loaded the X-Terra 70 into my pickup truck and away I went. Upon arrival at the junior high school I did a quick survey of the area and started hunting at the spots that most folks would probably choose. I encountered a lot of trash and decided to just go to the center of the large playground field. Still trash, but not as bad. I found a wheat penny, some clad coins, but the big find was a class ring of sorts.

This is not a normal class ring, and I really do not understand what type of class ring it would be. It was approximately 6

what the story is behind that ring. It sure looks like it has been in the ground a while.

Sure wish the weather up here would allow me to get out. Being able to hunt any kind of site would tickle me right now.

Here's an early unfired cartridge I found at an old home just a few blocks down the street from me.

Now that is strange not to have a school name, initials or year on a class ring, Kelley. I guess this one is meant for you to wear. But remember to take it off when you shake hands with someone

Re: "Heresay, some that graduated from High School couldn't afford a gold ring at graduation but could afford a no name High School junker, something to wear while the group picture was taken."

I did not know that there was such a type of ring, but this would explain why the ring appears to be made out of some type of cheap metal and there is no name of a school engraved on the ring. Kelley (Texas) :)

I use to be a teacher and through a lot of jewelry stores a person could buy just a generic type ring. Maybe the person couldn't afford a real ring or a drop-out wanted to fit in. You can even send away for these rings so they were quite common.

I was thinking along the same line. Those Class ring companies sure charge thru the nose for what you get. I have found a couple of the cheaper non gold class rings that Jostens sells.

could have been a example, that a Jostens sales person dropped on the way too or from a presentation for the students

he was swimming with it!

They were from local area High Schools.
