I was told today that a 4" Bounty Hunter coil will work on The Mark 1

This guy wants $250 for this Mark 1. It has the 7 1/4" coil and a 10" but I think the 10" needs some work. It has a few scratchy sounding pots on it that just might need sprayed. I really like it as it is one bad boy in the trash and you can go slow with it. It has a very sharp quick audio which I like. Even if I do buy it it is going to have to be tuned up I think. The G/B is real touchy and the select don't work as the book says it is supposed to work on the notch. It says 28 but the nickles won't come in at 28 more like 38. I might just buy it anyway. I just would like a small coil for it. Amy body out there help out a old guy. :D: :D: Thanks Jerry aka Tinfoil

Get in touch with Old California, he knows a good bit about them. I think you are right though that the BH coils will work on them.

The Target I.D. on the Mark-1 will very according where the Ground Balance control is set.The notch feature is an Eccept/reject all depending if you have the discrimination set below or above the Target
you are using the Select feature on. You can also set the discrimination on the detector by holding the Toggle to the right while turning up the disrimination control...This will work with the target select feature also.I think the Mark-1 does better with the smaller optional coils than the larger ones

Hello Jerry,

The 4" bounty hunter coil will work well with the Tekentics Mark 1 or any other similar Tekentics and even ID correctly, The only one draw back is for some reason it will not detect the smaller targets including smaller size gold rings, And they call this coil a nugget coil?

Anyway, The Six Shooter (Magnum Force Search Head) coil is the better coil for the Mark 1 if going after real small targets including smaller size gold jewelry.

If you can't find a Six Shooter, The next best coil would be the stock 7.5" coil which is a good coil for gold jewelry and gets excellent depth too.

HH, Paul
