I was looking through my treasures.....

...and remembering the particulars around the various items. You know what I mean. Remembering where each item was found, what the conditions were like there, what machine setup I found it with, etc. Stuff you do on rainy days. There were a couple of items in there that I am convinced I wouldn't have recovered if I was not using a particular machine setup.

For instance, there was this one very thin, small silver ring. I found it in the midst of a iron patch with the CoinStrike running the large coil. I had a 325 setup. It locked in at a 18 best I recall. Wasn't but maybe 4" deep. I dug it up because it locked on a single number so knew it was something round. Had no idea it would be a tiny silver ring. There was another time using this same setup at a different location, I got a number lock on around a 24. Turned out to be a very small, round, bronze transit token. Half the size of a dime. I don't think i would have recovered either of these items if it hadn't been for the CoinStrikes ability to lock onto round objects. Found my first gold ring with a CoinStrike, too. Remembering things like this kind of makes me want to get another one. Toying with the idea anyway. If I did it would be the third around with one. Really only sold them so I could try others, but there isn't too much left to try now so I might could be content.....maybe.

Anyone else go through times like this?

Happy :detecting:

Mike

I do that all the time! I start reminiscing about old detectors I've had, and cool features, happy hunts and wonderful finds. They're kinda like old friends... you don't really appreciate 'em until they've been away for a while. *sniff, sniff* :)

Yes I do also..and the coinstrike is an awsome very under rated machine. It's way better than most folks think !

the years. I still have my original Whites machine I started with in the 70's...then went to another Whites which I still have...then to an XLT...which I still have...then to a CZ which I still have...then to an Xl pro which I still have...then to my SE.:beers:
PS: I still say my cz70pro with the 12" sunray coil is the deepest seeking coin machine I have ever had.
