I Was Detecting Under A Blooming Red Bud Tree Today :detecting:

They're not suppose to bloom until Spring. We're having unseasonal warm weather. It was in the mid sixties today, but will be cooler for tomorrow's hunt. I used the larger stock coil today on the F75SE and didn't like it as well as the Sharpshooter coil that I used yesterday. It didn't run as smoothly and it didn't seem to hit any better on the deeper targets. My settings: boost mode, sensitivity 50, discrimination 7, 4H tones. I started out slow today and couldn't get my coil over a silver coin. Finding a wheat penny every now and then spurred me on. If there are wheat pennies there has to be silver there as well. I ended up with 14 wheat pennies ( 1926, 1946, 1944, 1936, 1928, 1923, 1942, 1952, 1930, 1944, 1934, 1945, 1942, 1946 ). I also found a 1932 Canadian Penny. After going most of the hunt without finding any silver, I finally got my coil over a 1941 mercury dime and a short while later I got my coil over another 1941 mercury dime. It was time to call it day, so I started hunting back towards the car. I got strong audio signal with some high ID numbers. I thought if might be a nice big ole silver coin, but it turned out to be a huge 925 silver ring instead. I'm on the war path for some large silver coins. Maybe a silver dollar or two.:) 32 silver coins so for the month and two day left. Surely I can find another silver coins or two.

Man, you find silver almost every time you go out, I didn't do that good in the 80's.
Be sure you test your detectors on BIG silver and make sure they're hitting on it, its amazing to me how many detectors out there will hit perfect on a silver dime or quarter but will not give a hint of a response on a silver dollar!

The silver around here is so dried up that I've gone for an entire year and NOT found one silver coin! actually more years than one. Your either REALLY good, or your hunting in areas that were NOT BEAT to death in the 80's and 90's by DOZENS of detector hunting clubs!

Your Doing Great! hope you can keep it up.

Thanks. I'm dragging butt this morning. I might let the rush hour morning traffic die down before heading out. F75SE + Sharpshooter Coil should do the trick today.:)

Mark I'm "REALLY" good at finding good sites to detect. If it's not there you're not going to find it. I'm a natural born hunter. People have certain habits and patterns. You just have to figure it out. People won't hardly ever sit on flat ground, but will seek out a side of a hill to sit on and will cut off a corner in a heart beat. Years ago kids used to love to roll down hills and would lose there lunch money. Corners lots used to be a good place for kids to gather and lose some coins. Grassy areas near bus-stops is a great place to look, because people would lose all kinds of things waiting on a bus.

Maybe that's the problem.
When I was in junior high school they had stopped serving lunches at school, so it was a couple of catering trucks and one little corner store. One hot dog off the truck was 45 cents, I got 25 cents a day for my lunch allowance! I never lost that quarter! it was one candy bar and a bubble gum!
I remember once in gym class they were doing archery, and the assistant coach bet me a dime he could out shoot me, I didn't have a dime! so the kids got together until somebody came up with one, the coach lost! I paid the dime back and pocketed the winnings. I mean I was from Harveytown.
When I first starting metal detecting that was the idea, all those places where we hung out as kids, hunting spots would be endless, I don't think none of us three every found a CENT hunting those places. After a long time of trying to hunt them we concluded that we weren't finding anything because we didn't have anything to lose!
Your area is one that hasn't been raped by club hunters from the 80's through the 90's these guys hit EVERY school, court house, play ground like a flock of turkeys going though the woods turning over every leaf!! stick looking for food.
If you want to test your skill make a visit to our area and see if you can turn up a hand full of silver in five years!
In the 80's I can remember driving by our city park on any nice fall day or spring day and at a distance people swinging detectors looked like bee's in a clover field, same when you drove by the older schools, and the court house.
But non the less between your skill and the area your in, you are doing very well for sure.

Good Job!

Mark

I was out in the same area today so I took a picture of the blooming Red Bud Tree. That's just crazy for it to be blooming this time of year.

You just gave away your spot...just kidding LOL!

I didn't leave any silver at that spot.:) I'll go back over it again later with one my Tesoro detectors and get the gold jewelry.
