Minelab 7000?
Garrett ATX?
Gold Monster 1000?
Or what?
I will be detecting in gold areas of the western US, especially Arizona, Southern California and southern OR.

Hi,
this is the Equinox forum. You didn't list the Equinox as one of the choices in your message..........The detectors you listed should have plenty of information on them somewhere on this forum. I'll give you a few opinions.

Minelab 7000 GPZ ZVT technology, waterproof, is a fantastic gold nugget hunter. It is also pretty heavy (over 7 lbs) and has a large coil. Coil selection???? very expensive! Said to be the deepest gold nugget detector.........

Minelab GPX 4500 or 5000 excellent Pulse Induction detectors that will go almost as deep as the 7000. Lots of coils big and small, heavy (over 5 lbs) will find the shallow small bits and do very well on larger deep nuggets.

Garrett ATX Pulse Induction, is a bit of an oldie and is really heavy (over 5 lbs). water proof. It works fairly well from talking to fellow nugget shooters who tried it. I wouldn't want to swing it all day.

Garrett AT Gold 18kHz VLF good for gold down to .5 grams. Waterproof. personally I didn't like it where I used it in Arizona. It did not unmask well in iron and also didn't handle hot rocks very well. It will find gold in milder soil conditions. Does well on coins, jewelry and relics too.

Gold Monster 1000 45kHz VLF is lightweight, easy to learn but has limited features in my opinion. Supplied headphones suck!!!! Good frequency for small gold nugget hunting. Not good for anything but gold and maybe relics. built in Li Ion rechargeable batteries

Whites 24K VLF is supposed to be pretty good especially on small gold 48kHz new model, reported to do well in hot rocks and has advanced ground balance system. I haven't tried one yet.

Makro Multi Kruzer 5kHz, 14kHz, 19kHz VLF fully waterproof, excellent wireless headphones !!! good for gold down to .5 grams in 19 kHz. lot of great features.Built in Li Ion rechargeable batteries The Nokta Anfibio has even more features and should handle gold fields well in 19khz mode. outstanding relic, coin and jewelry hunters too.

Makro Gold Kruzer 61kHz VLF is a small gold/micro jewelry specialty hunter that is fully waterproof and can be used for coins in a pinch. excellent wireless headphones!!! Built in Li Ion rechargeable batteries

Fisher Gold Bug Pro, Fisher F19, Teknetics G2+ 19kHz VLF does very well on .5 gram gold and up along with relics and coins too. Can get noisy in abundant hot rocks. Fairly old but proven technology.

Minelab Equinox 800 simultaneous multi frequencies up to 40kHz VLF has dedicated gold modes that work very well for nugget shooting with lots of information and adjustments. Handles gold field iron and hot rocks very well. Excellent wireless headphones, Li Ion built in rechargeable batteries
Fully waterproof, also an excellent coin, jewelry and relic detector

XP Deus/Orx VLF both have dedicated gold prospecting modes and many selectable single frequencies up to 70 kHz. Lots of features and adjustments, pretty complicated in the beginning. Will find gold. Super lightweight. Wireless headphones and built in Li Ion rechargeable batteries. Also outstanding relic detector and excellent on coins and jewelry.

there are more.
these are just ones I either know something about or have used in the gold fields of the SW USA.

Thanks for the information on metal detectors that can find gold! I saw some listing White's, and the surprisingly low kHz that would find gold. Therefore, I own a Spectra V3i that has 22.5 kHz. How does it rate on finding gold?

Soon, I will be adding a Minelab Equinox 800 to my collection of metal detectors. I am surprised to repeatedly see how well it does on small gold.

Thanks!
