I turned some found junk into $$$$

When I first started I would toss all the brass and copper into the garbage. Then I realized I was throwing away money. I started putting all the brass and copper into a bucket. Copper pipe, wire, nuts and bolts for electrical connections and such. Brass hose bibs, sprinklers, hose sprayers and such. I took it all to the scrap yard. I had 21 pounds and they gave me 80 cents per pound. That worked out to $16.80. That makes up for the zincers I pass over. All of it was tarnished and I could have gotten more if it was separated but I didn't want to fuss with it. I added that to last years total which raised me to $494.86 found in 2007:thumbup:

Just as well......it's free money + helps to recycle. I'd started a few 5 gal buckets for scrap too. I won't "clean" anything & will take whatever I get for it.

The zinc in the penny is worth more than the penny its self. nickels also have more than 5c worth of nickel in them. at some point the 'nickel' will probably vanish like the silver did.

I'm going to start saving my junk too. I've thrown away a lot of stuff I should have kept. I just ain't as smart as my bro........:rage:

Fl. sand made digging easy. When they tore down a house the copper piping was in the sand. Aces love copper. The year before last I sold over $700 in copper.

How about junkamorphasis? Turning junk metals into gold and silver:thumbup:.

Wow, you really meant JUNK.

Nice work!

I need to remember to do that with all the old hose nozzles, copper tubing, and brass widgets. As it is, I have an enormous drawerful. But I've only kept the old or "interesting" junk.

I dig a lot of lead, too. Found a chunk once that was probably two pounds.
