I tried these setting, WOW!

Hi guys and gals,

well I went on youtube and watched a video this guy put out, He starts with 50 cond.,fast on, smooth, open screen, no dics. at all, not even the little line way down at the bottom of the screen. and high trash. He had laid nails on the floor and low conductive targets next to each. when he passes the coil over the nail it screams a high tone but soon as the coil hits the low conductive target it gives a low growl. so i set my machine up the same way, and made another program with the same setting but ferrous coin. went to the beach where there are tons of iron, some pieces quite big. used the program with the high trash setting. when I went over iron it screamed a high pitch, if there was a coin next to it it would give me a icon in the quarter dime area and the iron icon below, if there is no coin it will only give the lower iron icon and some scattered red meaning iron. went over this area yesterday and I found today I missed a lot of coins, a lot of nickels. quarters and dimes give a high scream also but with the coin icon and a bit lower tone then the iron. I was using the 6'' coil, but later changed to the 11'' and it found me even more deeper coins. I was digging a quarter at over a foot and I seen this gold earring fall out of the side of the hole, it was open so I think that's why the ctx couldn't hear it but I did get the quarter at close to 14''. The 6'' missed it. I really like these two programs and would like to hear if anyone has used these setting at all and what your results were. I dug 47 coins in this bad iron area, so the guy on youtube come up with a winner for me, Thanks for listening, Gene ( Vietnam Vet. 1969 )

To see this video, go to youtube, type in ctx in 50 conductive, look for one that reads minelab ctx using 50 tone conductive to unmask low conductors in dense iron, by Relics 1864

Wonder if this would still work in the water? I just hunted a water spot with my Excal and the Excal was almost in a constant state of null due to all the iron. I was digging all the burps I would get that had a good tone to them....

FYI, I'm a newbie with the CTX, don't even have 10 hours on the machine yet.

Way to go Stitchlips, Thanks for posting the video, I see your much more computor advanced then me. Hope this helps a lot of you in those darned iron infested areas. It takes a little time to get used to the screamy sound on iron, but well worth it when you hear a good target sound off or show a icon in the coin area on the screen. Good luck, I just love these settings, Gene

Thanks foristing guys i will try this as here in my part of tennessee iron is not in short supply lol.

Sorry man, I just can't listen to that while I try to hunt. Try comparing those settings to combined with some disc and fast on. I bet you'll pick those targets out just as good if not better.

Heah Dr. Tones,

I hear ya, I use both, I switch back and forth, but there is something about those settings is the way it hits high tone on iron, and if there is anything by it under it or on top of the iron, the sound drops just a bit or a lot depending on what it is. but it does tell me there is something else there other then iron. but I do have to turn the volume limit way down, even with my damaged hearing from Vietnam it can drive you nuts after awhile. but like you say I use combined most of the time, and if it's iffy I check it with the wild mode I think what it is doing, it won't let the iron mask the other target at all. Another thing I noticed today was with my volume limit at 15,it use to be at 25, I started hearing a lot more target and they were deep ,some at a foot. Thanks for your knowledge and input, Gene

Hi MartyGene,

The brass, lead and low conductors will sound with a low tone or low grunt depending on how deep it is. Pennies and silver are a high sound but not as high as iron and you can tell the drop in sound. also silver or coins give you a icon in the dime and quarter area, with a build of red as you swing the coil. you will have to turn down the volume limit. As Dr. Tones said this mode of setting will drive some people nuts. Good luck, Gene

Cool post, I'll give it a go though. For as long as I can tolerate it.

why not turn the pitch on the 49 and 50 conductive to a way lower pitch? and if you want turn the lower conductives to a higher pitch. that way you don't have to hear the high pitch screech all the time. Maybe I will try it that way to see how it works. I am having problems with my xchange2 right now, but i will edit it on the ctx.

Sounds like a plan, but if you get it figured out post how to do it for us, maybe others know how but I don't yet, Thanks much, Gene

It's a NO-GO with individual tones for the all 50 conductives, but you can swap them around, so it grunts on 50 conductive line and goes to a higher pitch on the smaller conductives. I haven't tried it yet. But if you don't want to hear the high pitches. Edit the pitch on the right side of the box to the lowest khz pitch. and edit the pitch of the left side of the box to a higher khz pitch. I put mine at 75khz on the right side and a 1000khz on the left side. it automatically gradually resets each conductive column to a lower pitch based on your high setting and low setting. I hope this makes sense. I'm not sure how it works, but good luck.

Gene I gave this program a try as well as my buddy in another state and both of us concluded after going back to sites we've picked clean and did not pull anything else out of the ground so I think I'm doing pretty good with my ferrous combined program!! Anyhow just thought I'd leave my input for you and others!! I will say this it make the CTX talk to ya but it wasn't a nice conversation, I couldn't stand all of that in my head! Lol

Yeah, this isnt good for the ground. But it probably works nice on the beach. Pull tabs were very noticeable. But i am not hunting low conductors. I' ll try with combined, using smooth. I dont like the lack of ability to modify 50co.

Well it was something to try, it works real nice on my salt beaches, but I only use it in the iron areas which are mostly up against the banks. out in the open I still use combined. Maybe it will work for others that don't mind the constant noise. My ears are busted up from the war anyway so I guess it doesn't bother me that much. Thanks for trying it and your professional feed back, Gene
