I took the Nox 800 to the beach

I went to a fresh water beach today. This is the first time that I've hunted sand and water with the 800.. Man it impressed me on several deep coins I dug with it. I dug several that was way deeper than the length of my Pro-Find 35. I didn't find any gold or silver jewelry today but lots of clad and pennies. I did find 1 junk broach/pin and quite a bit of small gray matter. Pain and a heat index of 111F cut my hunt short.. I hope I can get back in a day or two and get some bling..

Hope you get back there, sounds great! Want to do the same but pinched nerves have been a pain.

I had neck surgery in Jan. My arm more feeling but weak. My neck and shoulder pain is worst.. I'm paying tonight for the playing today.. Best of luck with your pinched nerves

Thanks the beach will be easier. Your last post i could have wrote except the surgery part!:)

My scoop has 1/2 inch holes. I also hunt freshwater and am having a terrible time with small targets falling through. I am not using the scoop to sift but just trying to get the item in the scoop and then up out of the water. The Nox is locating the smaller targets for sure. I hunted all day Thursday and I dare say 1/4 of the signals I got, kept falling through.

My advice to anybody planning to hunt with the Nox in freshwater is to get a scoop with small holes. I just bought one with 7 mm holes...was the smallest I could find. That should help with items falling through.

Have you tried a sifter? Got a couple down here well into their 80s who swear by them. No work.... just dump and go. Sounds like shot sinkers and high conductors...... which the Nox really likes. I get that in the wet sand and if i dont see a glimmer of YELLOW....... i move on.

. I like Gigmasters setup.. If you've seen his YT Vids, He uses a metal-less floating sifter that he dumps scoop into and can use his pinpointer to find the target in the sifter

I wanted to go back this morning.. but paying for yesterday a lot of neck and shoulder pain.. Hopefully I can go tomorrow.. Best of luck all and HH

Do what I did on my scoop. Go get the 1/4 hardware cloth from a hardware store and make a liner for the inside of the scoop. The roll of HW cloth will have a long wire wrapped around it to hold it in a tight roll. Use that wire to "sew" the liner into the basket so it wont try to fall out. Bend all your top row wire stub down and out before intalling so you wont be snagging your hand every time you reach in.
