I waited the rain out and headed off to an old site to do some relic hunting. I first started out with 5.75 inch concentric coil, but ended up putting the 8 inch doughnut coil on. It wasn't trashy enough that the doughnut coil couldn't handle it and I wanted a little more coverage and depth. My first discrimination setting was just high enough to eliminate iron nails, but I later decided that a higher setting would work better so I moved the discrimination up to where a foil cap discriminates out. The Cibola really does have a good audio response and runs quiet and smooth. I was digging most everything, but I could easily tell on most targets if it was a coin or not by listening to the audio response. I ended up finding a silver ring, 5 old wheat pennies (1928, 1920, 1925, 1916, 1945), 1943 war nickel, a 1935 Buffalo Nickel, a bunch of relics and some modern change. I'm pretty certain that I like this modded Cibola better than my Vaquero, but I don't think I like it as much as my Tejon. That may change once I get more familiar with the Cibola.
I was a muddy cold wet mess today. Next time I'm taking a break and turning the discrimination up and just dig silver.
