I took my GTAX 750 for a swim.

So I was detecting the beach yesterday, Tide was just starting to come back in. Had my MD up on the rocks out of the way of any water while I was swimming. So after we were done swimming, we grabbed the detectors and headed out. As I was walking the waves were coming in quick. I tried to make the jump over a small rock before the wave covered it. I jumped over it, and into a huge hole on the other side. I fell face first and did everything I could to keep the MD above the water. Like it was a vodka on the rocks. But the wave was big and the hole was deep. My GTAx 750 was under the water with me. So any suggestions? Is it junk? time for a new one? Help me out.

was it on or off when you dunked it?

if it was on, ouch!

if it was off, remove batteries, open housing and rinse thouroughly with circuit board cleaner. dry thoroughly and then dry again. reinstall batteries and keep your fingers crossed. you can also use clean water but detector must be DRY before you reinstall batteries and energize! Did I mention that the whole Unit MUST BE COMPLETELY DRY, BEFORE YOU RE-ENERGIZE.

I hope this helps!

Steve

Blow dry it with a hair dryer low heat put in them moisture asorbing things and pray good luck:yikes:

Make sure you let us know what happen when you get it dried, if it still works or not. Just in case some of us do the same thing, we will know if we have hope or not. Good Luck, Flintstone

Remove the batteries, and follow the instructions below. It must be 100% dry before you turn it on.many have survived a salt water dunking.....
