I thinking about getting a MXT. What the max depths you have got with different coils?

I would like to be able to detect a dime/penny to at least 8". Which coils could do this? My ground is mild and I have dug Indian Heads to 11" with a different detector. I used a MXT for a short time a couple years ago and it was a very pleasant detector to use.

thank,
Rick N. MI

I have personaly dug a indianhead cent at 12 too 14 inches. settings were Gain> high at 1 insanity setting disc > 3.5 Threshold just audioble>Ground ballance "tracking" in relic mode with trigger forward also i was useing the 10X12 excellorator coil ! all i can say is wow im still in awe over the depth of this coil also i listen too all the wispers too and if thay sound good i dig. sas

You will get awesome depth with the stock 12" coil. The larger the coil, the deeper it will detect.

II have dug up a pair of shorts with a button on it. 12" deep under a brake drum with my 300 ltd 12"coil. crescent city,ca

Not going to happen with any degree of consistency with any of the whites stock coils except possibly the 12" LTD coil. Any detection at 8 inches with the other Whites coils will be marginal at best. I've heard good things about the 12X10 Excellerator Butterfly coils though.

I consistently dig dimes, nickels and pennies at a true 7 to 8" with an occasional 9 incher using a 5.3 at preset here in Sacramento. Pulled two dime size pendants, one 14K, one 18K, both at 7".
The 5.3 will do the job if you learn it and let it.

depending on mineralization, I think the 950 will get it by working slow

[size=large]just pulled a 1944s war nickel out from 7 "-8 " with the 8x6 SEF coil. was a quiet hit though. very minerlized soil here in S.W. WA. should do a little better in mild soil. my whites D2 does well here. at least it hit loud and hard on a 8" down ben franklin half. i'm confident it would do much better if the target ever shows up that's deeper.
