i think this is old?

I found this a few weeks ago with my gold scorpion and it was about 5 inches deep. I think its a trappers leg trap. Its very rusty, not sure if its old. It does look as if its been in the ground for awhile.

Yep, it's a single long spring trap. Traps are a collectible item but not in the rusty condition like you found. Nice find anyways.

do you have any idea how old it could be? I may go back to the area where I found it to see if theres any other interesting items. I found a part of what I thought was an old wood stove door very close to the same area where I found the trap.

Yeah that looks like an old compression spring leg trap and it has been there a day or two.

Due to its condition - probably from the thirties and forties. Lot of small game trapping back then.
