I hit a place this am I've never been to, located it by using Mapquest Satellite...big school/sportsfield complex....it was a bit out of my territory, but I needed to hear some Pings pretty bad, and since Rosie gets over 30mpg, we went on over, I told myself I was gonna get 20 bucks today to make it worth my while, either in coins or cans....rolled up on it a little after 6am...grass was deep and wet, and had some sort of netting down in the roots, like a 1'mesh? Evidently what they use nowadays when a field is resurfaced...Impossible to get a trowel through, too tough to cut with a knife even, some sort of green nylon mesh? Ever seen it? Thats why there was so much deep clad in here! A clad stabbers DREAM!

The wet deep grass made it hard to accurately hit the coins on first stab, and a lot of them were on edge, very few surface drops, so somebody is getting those, but not going after the deeper mesh protected coins. I was doing the "little drummerboy, coil hop"... never once used the PP button...had the 70 set up light like usual...I was sweating and overheated in short order, pouch heavy, glasses all fogged up...composed myself and cooled off at a sprinker head that graciously popped up and took a mighty wiz!.....ground balanced and set up 67 sens and went back through...highgrading Q's...finally got a dollar coin, a nice 4q stack, lots of 2's and 3's, several tight spills...all of the coins in the pic I tumbled, and you can see they have been there a while!

Ive been beach and water hunting all week, and as I've said before, that is some brutal, exhausting, and barren work for the most part...a guy needs gas and beer money until the gold shows up, fast clad grabbing in a location such as this pays off big every so often...whoever lost the knife also lost a dime, I tried to focus on the nickels for a bit, just to not disappoint, but it was so Q heavy of a spot, a guy has to go back for them..I never once got on the playing fields, where the silver/gold chains are, just the sidelines and fencelines, under the bleachers, entrance gates, primary school doors, along the parking lot at the snowplow zone, etc...only stabbed a few trash items..the coins were so crisp!....now I wish I went in there for jewelry...maybe next weekend? I was home by noon!...F70 quick brooming clad!..what a rush!

Nice haul!
Hey, just rig your machine up to a short scuba shaft for sites like that so you can crawl along on your hands and knees!
Big clad days are fun, and even non-detectorist family members approve of the results!
Cheers

That is one sweet pile of coins. Don't get much exercise, though, on a spot like that. All you had to do was stay on your knees and slide the 70 out in front of you and then pop coins. Good job Mud. HH jim tn

%$^#&^% day.
I've never seen the netting you mention, and it sounds like a drag.
But you worked through it admirably.

What were you using to pop the coins out?

Heres a pic of what i use to stab coins...the screwdriver gets real sharp just from pushing it down in the dirt all the time..a picture of my 'spare' just in case I lose or break my main...

Mud, you are an inspiration to us clad hunters!
Well done my friend :)

Here are the two probe poppers I've got in my bag -

One is a large spoon shaped tool and the other more if a probe.
I've had a lot of different ones over the years (I started in 1992), but these are what remains.

PS pay no attention to the stained dirt cloth they are displayed on. It's the same cloth napkin I've had forever

Whew!
What a total, especially for an old guy like you.
2 words...Epsom Salts....take a hot bath with these and those muscles will feel much better.

Old Guy?

Amazingly, I didnt hurt at all any more than normal...my stabbing wrist was just a bit sore from trying to ream a hole through that heavy thatch and net, and one side of my glutes had a tiny noticeable ache, both feet were soaked and pruny, but that was good, I actually cut my toe nails when I got home with sidecutters instead of the right angle grinder for once! So that was a plus.....I had to kneel down on one knee for pretty much all of this, they were too deep to stoop n' stab...so all in all, it was a fun day with no ill effects from the effort, and thats what I like about clad!

I took my bicycle out for a ride yesterday.
I aint saying nuttin about a few extra aches and pains.

Nice haul mud and sounds like u enjoyed it too!!! hh rick in mi

This is a case of machine vs. machine. Man mud, are you trying to see who will break first? lol. Phenomenal hunt for sure.

Your ability to find sites loaded with so much clad AMAZES me!!!! Yes, digging all that clad is a great feat, but finding a location where it is possible to dig that much clad is the greatest feat IMHO. Congrats!!!

Wow! That's a huge dollar amount . I've dug that many coins in a day, but my dollar amount was less than half of yours.

I see right now that I must master coin stabbing. Mud you should have went for the gold and got the clad at a later date. It takes a lot of clad to equal one gold ring.

Can you imagine hitting an old virgin site loaded with that many silver coins? You'd kill yourself.:)

Holy crock Mudd, don't other detect in your earea?

WOW! Way to take it to the bank!!!! I think my biggest clad day was maybe 12 bucks? I'm usually satisfied when I find enough to cover 2- $1 burgers at McDonalds!

LOL Mud ! ..... I just seen this post ...... Good Job man ! :clapping:
