I think i have decided on trident viper

Ok i think i have finally decided on going with the trident viper metal detector, as apparently it can go to depths of 132 ft

If there are no objections to this i probably will go for it.

Criticism welcome. :nopity:

A trident is made in China and from what I have seen are not very well made. My friends coil broke the second time he used it. Also they find all kinds of junk. Do you get any kind of warranty with one? If so buy it from a reputable dealer like Kellyco if they have them. Just so you know your not getting taken.

Your better off going without a detector than buying that wannabe detector..

If there is none........then that should make you wonder. Meanwhile all the other name brands do have forums. A manufacturer will boast about it's product but people in a forum will tell you the truth.

Now that right there is funny, I don't care who yah are!

Well, I suppose unless you just spent good money on one....

Look forward to seeing your performance reports on the viper, Tropico...

Good luck!

Ok.. Ok.. thats why i joined this forum so i don't buy a piece of sh** can anyone suggest another detector in the $350 margin that can fully go underwater to about 10 ft depths

Water hunting is not cheap and a decent water machine in that range is not easy to find..

I would suggest if you have stay close to that to look at the Tereso Tigershark or a Detector Pro like the Wader or Diver.. You could try the Pirate some like it some don't and I believe its under $300 dollars.. I'm know others will chime in :)

Tropico I bought a cheap water detector ( Cobra Beach Magnet) trying to save money. After just 2 weeks of finding very little and hunting hard I decided to bite the bullet and get an Excal. 1000. My first weekend with it at Cocoa Beach I found 2 Gold one with Diamonds, it nearly paid for itself that weekend. The Cobra Beach Magnet rides in the toolbox on my truck as a backup detector, but I hope I never have to use it again.

I know nothing about the Trident Viper, but it seems about the same as the Cobra price wise. I am old school, you get what you pay for. Try to hold out for a better machine.HH

You can submerge the coil and it will actually do some detecting in salt water with a lowered sensitivity. For only $200 the ACE250 will blow the Viper out of the water and you can use it for land hunting. It didn't take me long to realize that the good loot was out in the water where the ACE250 couldn't take me so I bought an Excal 1000. 2 years later and well over 100 rings later I don't regret my decision one little bit. I just bought a CZ-21 (finds have the cost covered 20 times over) as a back up to my Excal 1000.

The satisfaction that comes from buying quality lasts long after the quick pleasure of cheap price is forgotten.

BDA:cool:

There was this guy in galveston using one a few weeks ago I don't think he even found a target to dig. I was watching him because I had never seen that detector before, go with a proven machine. hh willia

I vote minelab excal or a whites machine . I am relatively new as well but the one thing I wanted to make sure of when I started was that I had the best machine possible.(that way the only handicap I had was myself). It's tough enough getting it all straight without a machine to goof up for you.

We aren't harsh, we are just brutally honest :) The price range you're looking in $350 will be hard to fufill unless you go used.. There is the Tereso Tiger Shark I believe in the $550. range new.. You could also look into the Detector Pro line as they are a pretty good detector.. If money is such an issue go with the Detector Pro Pirate its in your price range.. this way you will know whether water hunting is for you or not without having to drop alot of money..

...and there are times in a man's life where he just cannot afford to cut corners. Purchasing an underwater detector is one of them. I made do with what I had and saved for a long time, but finally bought my Excal a few weeks ago. Until I got it I took my little ACE 250 and ravaged the dry and wet sand...and even the water up to the control box. I think I paid for the machine several times the first season. I had a bunch of fun while saving for the water machine too.

Metal Detecting is a hobby where the investment is give back to you many, many fold if you buy quality machines. It's just a fact of life.

Time is valuable and if you waste it on a junky machine, then you are bound to get a sour taste in your mouth when people come behind you and find really good loot. It's the QUICKEST way NOT to have fun fer sur.

I would look into buying good used machine of reputable stature--even an old horseshoe Excal would beat the Chinese machine. I'm not trying to be harsh, but knowledge is power. Transversly, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. That's why this forum is worth it.

So be patient and get a good (maybe used) Whites, Minelab, Fisher--name-brand machine, It truly will be GOLD in your pocket. <><
