I think I have a bad Super 12 coil.

I just got a Super 12 coil and put it on the MXT Pro, turned the gain to the preset position and got an overload signal. I backed it off until the overload stopped at 9, the chatter was crazy all the way down to a gain setting off 3. At that setting, I could only get an air test on my ring from about 5", on the 9.5 coil, I could run the gain wide open in the exact same place I tried using the Super 12. I thought maybe it was emi because I was in town. On my way home I stopped twice to test the coil way from power lines, it did the exact same thing. I bought the coil used, I was going to take the cover off, but it's been siliconed on. I didn't want to make a mess of the coil before I have a chance to talk to the dealer. My thought is, I've got a bad coil. What's your thoughts?

Bad coil I think, too. And sealing the cover isn't a good option as you'll have some trouble to get it off CLEAN.

My idea would be to get the money back.

Good Luck

I think you've got a bad coil also. Yes, get your money back.

I bought one used a few months ago that looked like brand new. It had the same problem you mentioned and I quickly returned it for a refund. I lost out on shipping though.

The dealer gladly took the coil back, it was used when he sold it to me and he's refunding my shipping. Great customer service.

That's good news.
