I talked to Ralph at Sun Ray the other day...

I am getting some spare parts and headphone cup pads (from his mfg.). I asked him if he has had a sudden increase in X-5 coils (5" Explorer coil). He said, "OH YEA!" I mentioned what a great X-5 article Bryce wrote in the WE Treasure Mag. I am sure that is what is spurring Ralph's sales. Thanks for the great article Bryce.

...thanks.....I really appreciate it.

I hope you enjoy the X-12 field test article in the next Western & Eastern Treasures magazine which comes out in 2 or 3 weeks.

It was a very thorough test...and contains some "comparing".

It was a lot of work...but a pleasure to do.

Take care...and thanks again

I have an X-5 and I don't suppose I've given it a fair trial since I rarely use it. I'd like to read the review.

I had never used a 5" coil before in my entire life. The smallest I used to that point had been the 6" Excelerator which I love.

I got a little irritated with my SE in the iron at some of my sites. Sounds familar "don't" it:biggrin:...so I bought another used Explorer 2 off of Guvner...and wouldn't you know he had the slimline coil on it:bouncy:. He tried to punk me:cool: ...but I saw he had an x-5 that he had been using the last year or so...and I bought it off of him for $100. I then promptly...and I mean very promptly...sold the slimline coil to help offset the price of the x-5 I bought.

Wow did that little coil open my eyes.

but sold it. I could not get over the tiny size I guess. I wish I had kept hold of it after reading your article. I had a similar coil for my CZ 7a Pro way back when, that I loved for curb hunting.
Take care - Robin
