I stand and I need help with my soverigin elite

Moraito

New member
Hi my name is Fran and I write from Spain , I have recently purchased a soverigin minelab elite , if the detector is not working properly and in Spain there demasida if not any information to solve my problem and I've seen here in this forum there are people who know a lot this detector.

The problem is that when you turn the detector makes a low hum that gradually silenced in a matter of five seconds , no threshold tone and not liable to the objects as they pass in front of the coil.

'm Hobby of electronics and have Built some detectors and coils but only vfl single frequency with the help of a great friend, but here in bbs I'm lost , I have observed that transistors mosfet power warming specifically Q107 and Q105 which are two MTP2955v them and also with integrated voltage regulator smd 2931A and both L101 and L102 bovine warming .

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Greetings from Spain .

Moraito, welcome to the forum,my guess with your information its probably a bad search coil.Disconnect the coil and turn the Elite on and chances are you will hear a normal threshold sound if this diagnosis is correct.Good Luck Ron

Thanks for your quick response Ron, it is my pleasure to meet you, the problem is that because I tested lighting the elite without the search coil and the result is the same, gives a tone 2 seconds and then muted, the only difference is that with the search coil connected elements are heated and if it is disconnected elements not heated, also probe to change the bbs1000 coil other bbs800 to rule out that the problem was the coil still the same result for two coils.

I detectors at home that made itself a hobby when I have questions that I try to tx this oscillating circuit to the detector working khz but this being multi'm lost, then a new field for me, I have not found the any network schematic to help me understand how this detector works.

A greeting.

Moraito,I had a coil that had two wires switched out of place that made the Sovereign work the same way you explained.Your battery pack fully charged? My next step I would check your Sovereign coil connector for a bad connection.Good Luck Ron

Ron sincerely appreciate your help and your time.
I am using a regulated power supply 12v I think the problem may be that this in integrated circuit 2931A smd gets very hot so you can not touch a long time.
The coil connections look good.

Sounds like you're NOT using the battery but rather just have the circuit board on the bench and powering it from a power supply?

I have the exact board in the bank and feed is supplied by a power supply.

Sorry if my English is not good 100x100.

Sounds like the power supply MAY have burned up the board. Charge the battery pack and try powering it with the pack as it should be. None of the components should get hot either...

Hi Robby, the first test was with the original battery and also heated components, then read on some post that sometimes the batteries gave problems and chooses alimeentar circuit with a regulated power supply.

I've been thinking it could be the voltage regulator in the store but components have problems because my city is not supplied in SMD package.

Then also thought about what you said mate Ron a similar problem and it was due to incorrect connection of the search coil.

In my next post I will comment as they are connected to the connector from the Dish palca to rule out any possible connection error.

Best regards.

Moraito, use to race long time ago one of my favorite bikes was my Bultaco Astro made in Spain.Anyway back to your Elite did the previous owner have any problems with this Sovereign?

The previous owner told me he did a modification to sack a Russian forum.
The modification consisted of adding a home Pbc allegedly prolong battery life,,,, what a modification could haver bought another battery to replace the exhausted battery.

And with this modified ruined his sovereign.

To rule out a possible bad connection of the coil wires as I write search dede are mounted to the pcb terminal block connection.

- J1 / 6 WHITE WIRE TO PIN 5 OF CONNECTOR
- J1 / 5 BLUE WIRE TO PIN 4 OF CONNECTOR
- J1 / 4 YELLOW WIRE TO PIN 3 OF CONONECTOR
- J1 / 3 RING YELLOW WIRE TO GROUND
- J 1/2 RED WIRE TO PIN 2 OF CONNECTOR
- J 1/1 BLACK WIRE TO PIN 1 OF CONNECTOR

Ron friend the other day talk about bikes since I am also passionate about them.

Meanwhile you can see a video of one of the restoration for me to been one of the best I've had and the more I enjoyed it.

A greeting.
